Why don't they make 'anti-anime' anymore? Those anime with virtually no fanservice or typical anime tropes? Ones that could basically be live-action. I liked them. I miss them. I don't like modern anime

Because anime mostly caters to the monolithic "anime audience", that wants waifus and social fulfillment fantasys. Branching out from that does not bring in more money, unfortunately.

there was a lot of hope for the medium around the turn of the millennium, with the advent of digital and 3d effects and whatnot. lots of cool works to come from this time period, but over the course of the next decade anime leaned more toward its capitalist/consumerist inclinations and strayed away from actual art. just be thankful for what was made, though it is unfortunate things couldnt stay that way.

this is me. i think it was the atmosphere, in the air of the world, around that time that was very special. and the people who were born ~20-30 years before it were just born in the right time to be at their creative peaks during it, such is why that type of art was more prevalent back then. that atmosphere has vanished from the public conscious, replaced by something more sinister and incomprehensible.

Social media made it easier to see what's trending among fans. Also, I don't think any cosplay girls are going crazy over texhnolyze, but they sure like kakegurui, jjk, boku no hero academia, my dressup darling, etc.

Dungeon Meshi is largely comedic and people like OP don't like comedy. And I guess it doesn't really have fanservice, which fits what OP wanted, but I'd hardly call it anti-anime in the sense he wants.

The main thing i remember from Technolyze was how ever site i watched it on took fucking forever to load, and how i switched sites like 4 times because of it. If i watched it under better circumstances I'd probably enjoy it a little bit more, not to say it was bad or anything, but those circumstances probably lowered my perception of it

The key with posts like this is to ignore the "discussion" and just go through the shows people suggest. If it's all old stuff or stuff that doesn't match the criteria, then you kind of know where we're at. And, of course, if there's something that matches in there, you've got a cool new show to watch.

I checked on the wiki, and it says she killed herself. I didn't see that happen, so it either happened so fast I didn't notice while I was eating a sandwich or something, or the version I watched fagged out and didn't show it.
