A few months ago I had a dream that McDonalds in Japan was doing another Keroro toy run, I guess all the toys were themed around chores? It makes sense with Keroro.
There was a couple Aki figs in the line, but the one that stood out to me was Aki riding a lawnmower for some reason. I guess it fits her a lot.

Why wouldn't they be acceptable? It's just a pain to digitize them, since it can change the look if it quite a bit. I've scanned it with too much contrast for example. The linework looks a bit too harsh.

I don't like it as much as the old design- both the outfit and the hair. I prefer looking at images of old Arc and my mental image of her is such. I just think that her old design better reflects her condition as an ancient vamp clueless about modernity. It was cute and entirely tied to her as a character. I can't say the same of the remake design, it looks like something a modern girl actually might wear. That's not to say I can't enjoy her new design though, I think she's cute in anything.

For me I don't think any voice will do her justice. I fell in love with her reading Tsukihime, so I fell in love with a voiceless Arc. I would say I prefer her melty blood/carnival phantasm VA to her remake VA still. It sounded more bubbly/whimsical and more befitting of her. Arc stands out so she needs a voice that stands out.

How do you guys go from sketching to making a line drawing like this >>281548438? Do you guys study anatomy or practice figure drawing or anything?
I have a really hard time drawing anything without just copying a reference line for line. I see people post workflows where they do a rough sketch and then make a line drawing over it but my sketches are so shitty I never even get that far. Like pic related was supposed to be Shana but I got as far as the ahoge and then couldn't figure out how to make it actually look like her.

If you're just starting out, like first few months of having touched a pencil, I don't think tracing is all that wrong.
If you are being mindful of the fundamentals like gesture and construction I think it's really helpful to see what your long-term goals with learning should look like. Just don't linger on it too long and start learning how to use your eyes to take the important parts from reference without tracing as fast as possible.

Same to you! It's a tossup between this and the pumpkin patch date from last(?) Oct. I'm a big sucker for these drawing of a picture type of works, the meta aspect of them has an irresistible charm. Loving your composition and color choice here, Hibari and the Unisphere (TIL it has a name, always just knew it as the World's Fair Globe) are framed perfectly. That blue tinged color palette hits the nostalgia-anemoia soft spot in the best of ways, the atmosphere is almost tangible. I've said it before, but you really do have a strong sense for these things.

Originally as pictured in my head the image was only going to be slightly rotated but still angled head on, when drafting out the lines the perspective kinda just jumped out and for reasons unknown I decided to roll with it. I hoped the framing would create a distance between viewer and subject that would enhance the longing nostalgia. Don't even get me started on World's Fair, my fetish for retrofuturism knows no bounds.

Yeah see that's what I mean, sounds like your roommate knows what's up. Being able to be guided into creating great things by intuition or happenstance is the sort of intangible skill that can't really be taught. I suspect it's part of what makes up the much fabled (and maligned) "talent" often brought up around here. Mechanics are important, but you can tell when objectively good art is lacking that touch of whimsy. Eg, the steady stream of fotm Patreon bait that dominates xitter and the boorus. Being able to inspire emotion with your work gives you a leg up.

I'm torn between wanting to believe this myself for pride reasons and also recognizing that there is a difference between my tastes when I used to call myself an artist back before I gave it up in high school, and where I'm at now years after picking it back up. There were also many trips to the MET and more than a few humanities courses between the two that I can't help but think played a part. As an English major we are often told and tell others that to be a good writer you have to be well read, maybe good artistic sense comes from consuming great art. I'd give TS Eliot's "Tradition and the Individual Talent" a read if you're interested in that take. Or maybe stereotypes are true and being a faggot gives me innate good aesthetic sense. You have good sense yourself, I'd be curious if you've studied art historically
I will say this being my only artistic outlet really makes it likewise makes it my only emotional outlet so my art is driven by emotion. I always found people who said stuff like "I draw/sing/etc because I NEED to" a little melodramatic but maybe I'm starting to see what they were on about. It does feel rather nice.
