Has anyone gone through Fate/stay night in recent years or are we going from decade old memories? It aged like shit

>too many kitchen scenes
>cartoon villains
>kinda ugly art style
>shounen-y formulaic plot in the first two routes (defeat villain, next one appears, rinse and repeat)
>weak OST
>horrible sex scenes, but the all-ages version is too censored, so there's no good middle ground
>weak prose and dialogue compared to later Nasu's works

The anime adaptation could have saved it but turned out worse. This is a way too overhyped work on 4chan. Zero is more polished and, yes, even FGO (when Nasu is writing). Fragments and Strange Fake surpassed it. Case Files surpassed it. Apocrypha works better as an anime. Tsukihime is more interesting and grounded.

I haven't changed in decades so there's no reason my memories should be wrong.

You are apparently, considering all your points are decade-old memes.

>Zero is more polished
because it barely has a plot worth telling
>FGO is better
you mean the garbage sidequestathon rife with meme lines? not in a million years
>(Proto) Fragments surpassed it
Sakurai's writing is nowhere near as bad as /a/utists like to believe it is, but it's still not better than an 8/10
>Strange Fake surpassed it
being the most shonenslop Fate work aside, it's merely derivative of what FSN and FZ set up
>Case Files surpassed it
Case Files is arguably the weakest TM project that isn't FGO
>Apocrypha works better as an anime
true, but it's still a worse story
>Tsukihime is more interesting and grounded
you mean the stepping stone nasu wrote in order to get himself to rework fate into FSN?

the only thing better than Fate/stay night is Fate/hollow ataraxia, and even then most of its success is attributed to stuff it borrowed from FSN's story and chose to build upon

In my youth I thought Fate/Stay Night was the hottest shit. But as I have matured I find Carnival Phantasm to be the most palatable Kinoko Nasu adjacent work.

Nasu's a more interesting writer than Urobochi.
Mostly because his characters all suffer some kind of mental illness.
