What's the best way to get into Higurashi?

I tried watching it from the first anime (2006) but it was really barebones and skipped a lot.

Are the manga better?

Read the VN

it takes like 12-18 hours per chapter lol

It's not a very good story if you're capable of reading books that haven't been turned into an idle click game and you're probably better off reading Dracula

How do you know it skipped a lot if you're only getting into it?

I only found the first 3 chapters of the answer arc interesting, the rest was whatever and the constant change in characterization of the characters made them feel like they had multiple personalities rather than appearing to be complex. I don't get people who like it more than Umineko, but I dont judge.

The VN is the best option, but the manga is a pretty good adaptation and a viable alternative. Remember that each arc has it's own manga adaptation, so the order goes:

>question arcs
Onikakushi
Watanagashi
Tatarigoroshi
Himatsubushi
>answer arcs
Meakashi
Tsumihoroboshi
Minagoroshi
Matsuribayashi
>semi-optional epilogue for extra closure and Umineko foreshadowing
Saikoroshi

Other manga arcs are mostly franchise-milking filler of wildly varying quality and tone.

Goes to show you what kind of retard would be interested in 100 hours of VN with no routes, boring BGM and shit art
even the steinsgays mostly have it figured out and properly say "play"

you'll want to read it.

Not retarded. VNs are recommend because their medium forces writers to develop characters, themes, and plots effectively from start to finish.

It's not fun to look at nor is it interactive, but that's the main appeal of it. I don't care about the VNs because I like making educated inferences about fiction instead of lazily concluding "BAD WRITING", but VNs exist for that purpose.

Have you never heard of books? American education was already bad but it must have fallen off a cliff after covid
I'd feel bad for you zoomers except you're annoying as fuck and have the nerve to call others retards

Yes, books exist but there is no higuarashi book. Just a VN.

Steins;Gate fans are retarded and think their vn is literally a game. The reality is that books are the closest comparison that makes sense.
Anonymous No.281460490
>>281460375
It is literally a game though
So is higgy, at least technologically speaking
Not a very satisfying gameplay experience though
If it was printed onto paper it wouldn't be a satisfying reading experience either

Obviously the VN.

I'm not even an R07 fan but there is literally no point in watching the watered down version of Higurashi (anime). Even the manga skips most of what's good. These are like two entire different stories.
