Maybe it was just too much combat, as this episode was nice.

Summary for the anons that need it: Latte is in for a check up with Hinata's charismatic father; he is leaving Chiyu in stitches. Proud of his jokes, he tries to get Hinata from being a partypooper, only while he's not paying attention Hinata slips again and says she's considering quitting. After the near heartattack the girls relax in Hinata's room and work to get her to open up about her doubts. Turns out Hinata, like Chiyu, is highly motivated, and she struggles as she can never seemingly catch up with her much older brother and sister; both already well accomplished. To make her point she has the other two try her drinks and while not offended, they note its a different flavor. Hinata is sure she has proven her point, but Chiyu stops her, reminding her she had her own struggle with this recently in the high jump. Hinata's thinking has been shaken, but she isn't quite convinced. Meanwhile Blockhead attacks, quite subtly, sending a flury of static electricity around town. After getting a good load of Nyatoran's birthmark, the girls search about town trying to figure out where the MoTW is. While searching the girls continue to discuss the issue of Hinata quitting as they'd lose quite a bit of strength without her; its left unsaid how the Pathogens would win. Finally they happen on Hinata's sister trapped in her drink truck and Hinata realizes that unspoken problem. Now highly motivated and with a lead towards the MoTW, the Cures take off and manage a quick potshot. The MoTW isn't too bothered as its skill is its speed, and the cures are unable to follow. Sparkle isn't about to give up with her sister trapped, so Fontaine pulls out her trump card, freezing the MoTW. With the MoTW slowed, the Cures get to cleansing, giving them the lightning bottle. As a reward, Hinata's sister makes them some drinks and Hinata explains to the girls she is ready to keep trying.

This was an interesting episode as we rehashed the earlier conflict of not being good enough, but in a fresh way where Hinata had other people she looked up to while Chiyu was only concentrating on herself. Furthermore Chiyu sort of helps confirm some of her feelings from the previous episode we didn't get to see, further expanding on the problem of "not good enough." To really send it home, Hinata has that wonderfully terrible feeling of too little too late, fueling the whole thing with capybara boy running about. Really going right up there with my my enjoyments.

I hope we get spring movies again soon, just so we can have dedicated crossover movies once a year again instead of having solo movies with glorified cameos. I feel like the biggest issue with that arc was they came to a surprisingly mature decision (making new memories instead of fretting over the lost ones) and then immediately backtracked by having her memories restored not even five minutes later. The problem is that that just cannot fly, not because Precure is for children, but because Purirun IS one of the main characters, it would be ridiculous, depressing and incredibly painful, no matter the girls efforts to 'make new memories' to have the girls dealing with a character who, to the audience in general is essentially dead for an undetermined amount of time.

Purirun just cant be changed for another character. She needed to recover her memories sooner than later. And if they did it later then it would be worse since we would witness the death of 2 characters: the original purirun prior to the wish, and this new purirun which the girls have been struggling 'making new memories'.

So idk who to reply to on the Otona town-setting discussion that I skimmed through above but I think it's worth mentioning that in the first All-Stars feature-length movie that featured Fresh and the the first three teams, the first three teams visited each other's towns and that's how they got to know each other so at least in that movie their universes are in the same place. It's the first All-Stars movie so they probably didn't plan on Precure becoming a mega-franchise especially with the context of the interview that mentioned Precure would have been discontinued if Fresh wasn't received well. Personally when it comes to universes and crossovers I'm just hyped to see my girls interacting with each other.
