He's not wrong when he says the MC is special, because he IS special. The story makes it painfully clear that Tanjiro is "built different" from the others.

That doesn't disprove Tanjiro's chosen one status. And it just proves the ones who knew about BoS sucked, not that the fighting style itself was weak. Muzan and Kokushibo killing every BoS users on sight actually proves the opposite of what you think. It actually confirms BoS was a threat even when wielded by an average user. They were so terrified of its potential, they hunted down and exterminated anyone with even a trace of it.

He's only behind Yoriichi. Tanjiro literally fucking stalls Muzan with killing intent for a long time single-handedly while Shinazugawa, Gyomei, Giyu and Iguro all gets their asses handed to them like the side characters they are. By the end of the series, he's very well above everyone else except Yoriichi. KnY fans should stop acting like their bog standard battle shounen is different from the rest of the bunch. It did every cliche imaginable, including the chosen one MC.
