Take me back
I remember my early days of streaming anime... Lucky Star, Ippo, PoT, StawPani, Ikki Tousen, and countless others. Back then, everything was drawn by people, and you could still turn on the TV and watch a ton of anime on Comcast DVR, without ads, at any time. Nowadays, I don't think you can even do that... You could pay to digitally rent something, and they will still play unskippable ads before it starts. Everything else has been hegemonized into these subscription-based digital streaming platforms, which tend to have very poor selections. Of course, torrent sites are taken down or compromised all the time. When you do finally get to watch something, it's full of CGI. This is happening to manga too (albeit, without CGI, but the techniques for drawing manga have also become much worse over the years as people have gotten away from drawing things by hand.) Scanlation sites get taken down all the time.
You can't even go out into the real world and talk about anime with people anymore. Even when the conventions are not fucking people over, the people who attend them have become disgusting... Male anime fans today are would-be rapists and gacha whales, and the women cosplay pornographic or nearly-pornographic anime while complaining that you can't even look at them. The hypocrisy in this clique is unbelievable. Nobody is committed to the grind, because nobody gives a damn about anime in an authentic way anymore. And now, increasingly, there is so much pressure for anime to go extinct because of Western moral busybodies. So, you get this bizarre dynamic where a bunch of completely disgusting sex perverts, and uninvolved normies, are trying to police what you watch through industry lobbying.
It is such a worse time to be an aniota that ever before. It has become a very lonely hobby. It is like being trapped on a desert island, with nothing to eat but old coconuts or plastic coconuts, and nobody to share them with. I think this is why nobody ever leaves 4Chan...
