What made High School of the Dead so special? It's still remembered after all these years and it still gets collaborations with other series and gachas

Because it was awesome
It had fun characters and zombies getting their fucking heads cut off what else do you want
Also it had huge tits or something idk

Sexy girls
Blood and guts
Fun character interactions
Infamously unfinished

It's also honestly a way better pure zombie apocalypse story than people give it credit for. It's at least as good as something like The Walking Dead.

it didn't get to fall off like other long-running series do

I do think it's kind of amazing that all these years later we still have no idea what the plans for the ending were. I get that Inazuma has that weird Japanese hangup about honor that prevents him from continuing the manga, but you'd think by now he'd at least have let us know what the PLANS were. Surely Sato kept some fucking notes that Inazuma could release. Why keep the info from us, when we'd all like to see it?

Almost everything that Araki directed became iconic. The man cracked the code of how to make everlasting and impactful otaku series. I genuinely can't wait for his next TV project, personally hope is some netflix original so it can have the most global reach as possible.

It was fun.
It's that simple.

Absurdly hot girls
Great action
Was a bit tongue in cheek without going overboard into full on parody.
The fact it will never get a proper conclusion is one of the biggest injustices in human history.

Saeko was a big reason.

As much as people hate admitting it the author dying before he could ruin it and it stopping at probably the peak elevated the work

Crucially, the manga never has to actually resolve the Rei vs Saeko dispute, and it coming down in favor of one girl over the other would absolutely have pissed half the reader base off.

Yeah I think its one of those things that just ended too soon before they had a chance to possibly fuck it up and left everyone wanting more

I like the angular style much more than the moeblob style.

>Xebec's last major work was adapting Triage-X

What a shitshow all around. It's just a bad fit. I love Xebec a lot but they're a terrible fit for Inazuma's style. Madhouse on HOTD fit much better. I kind of wonder if there was a double-kill effect going on: the shittiness of it all seems to have resulted BOTH in Xebec dissolving AND Triage-X being stunted in popularity growth ever since.

It astonishes me how often fans of HotD don't even know that Triage exists

>MULTIPLE pictures of Saya and Rei together
>ONE picture of Saeko and Shizuka together

It hurts me that the superior threesome pairing has been so neglected. It's almost to the point where if I could pay Inazuma to draw them together again, I would.
