Majority of the best anime have female protagonists like Satoshi Kon movies, Ghibli, Utena, Lain, Ghost in the Shell, Angel's Egg, Haibane Renmei, Belladonna of Sadness.

Meanwhile the majority of popular anime are dogshit with male protagonists like every shounen, every isekai, every harem, every romcom, every Shinkai flick, every edgefest seinen.
