I have to wonder why suicide hotlines are even a thing when most governments want us to kill ourselves by constantly making our lives miserable?

They're trying to keep you alive and as miserable as possible without driving you to suicide. But sometimes a courageous man has had enough.

governments don't want you to kill yourself, they want you to be subservient cattle to prop up the system. hence why suicide instruments and hard drugs are illegal because they don't want it to be an option.

Its a legal CYA (cover your ass) message. because in the US they can be sued by relatives of a suicidal person if they think that a material broke the state of mind enough to trigger an hero event.
with that warning, the publisher can safely brush off those arguments.

The only time this is remotely true is if someone literally encourages, instructs, or assists someone into suicide. Lashing out in court only gets you a contempt charge and legal fees, not compensation.
As litigeous as Americans are, the bar is actually quite high and not being able to reach it can have consequences.

Disingenuous post. None of these give away events that are supposed to have an impact before the moment they're supposed to be revealed. This piece of text: >tags - horror, supernatural, psychological
Tells you basically nothing about what actually happens in a story. Meanwhile the OP pic is literally going >SOMEBODY KILLS HIMSELF THIS CHAPTER!!!
Right in the first sentence. Zero actual fucks given about the reader.

Correct. Americans can be quick to sue, but our judicial system is not exceptionally different from that of other countries, so bullshit suits still get dismissed like anywhere else.
