Sorry, it's been scientifically proved. Come back when you've conducted your own double blind study and published a peer-reviewed paper in a reputable journal refuting the facts.

Boiled peanuts are supposed to be very salty.
They're basically pickles.

Watermelon with salt definitely does have a different flavour, maybe even a better flavour, but it's so different to the taste that I'm used to for watermelon that it just didn't appeal to me.

Same, I really don't get people adding salt to sweets, like literally putting salt on brownies? That's utterly retarded, you just make it taste worse for no reason, pretty sure people do this because they think it's cool or something.

Watermelon isn't bitter though, unless they're growing some sort of different variety in Japan.

You mean on the outside or in the recipe?
In a recipe is because salt enhances the flavor of almost anything, it's what chefs refer when they mention seasoning (look up the seasoning police). As a topping, is common to add fleur de sel to baked goods and brownies because it melts in your mouth and creates a sweet and salty contrast.

You need salt in the batter obviously, I meant sprinkle it on top at the end
>As a topping, is common to add fleur de sel to baked goods and brownies because it melts in your mouth and creates a sweet and salty contrast.
It tastes better without the salt, I'm pretty sure this is like some kind of placebo effect, some pros say it's good and people just blindly copy them because how can the pros be wrong?
