The thing about copycats is that, if they're just coasting on copying people, they're never satisfying to have win.
Chiba lost because he was inexperienced and had an amateurish sense of actually stringing together his moves. He put on a show and wanted to get people scared of what he could be, so he was also playing a mindgame beyond just being a copycat. He didn't wholeheartedly believe that just copying people was enough, at least not until he'd learned more and gotten a feel for the upcoming opponents.
Agito is sort of a copy character, but it's more that he has an insane knowledge base and a lot of practical experience. He stubbornly chose to fight Gaolang on his own foot, got punished for it, and adapted by pulling out something else. He openly admitted that he couldn't beat Gaolang in boxing and that copying wasn't the way to go.
Kawamichi was just kind of a pretender who was "a natural," but she really didn't seem all that special beyond the absolute nonsense of being able to pull off a couple moves more perfectly than Yuzuha could.
