I'm really critical of what the remake added to the Rengoku chapters, but it made sense that Kenshin didn't want to fight at his best while Shishio was watching. Now, Aoshi being there at ALL is retarded and it means they'll have to completely rewrite their Mt. Hiei fight, but that one aspect made sense.

Toriko is the only series that actually does power scaling correctly and consistently. If you go see earlier parts of one piece it doesn't make sense how strong characters are compared to modern one piece. But toriko its fine (except for maybe jiro but his power was sealed)

It's not much like HnK, and I wouldn't say it's particularly gay either. The setting is quite weird, and the power system is basically "food is magic that can do just about anything" but I'd say the closest point of comparison is Dragonball.
It's a sort of whimsical adventure like early Dragonball, but with the musclebound adult characters of late Dragonball/DBZ. The "manly gay" is also dialed roughly to DBZ levels as well, most of the characters have muscular bodies but the manga itself doesn't really dwell on it (the fanbase is a different story, so I understand why you would be under the impression that it's at Baki's level).

That's an issue with Dragonball (or powerscaling in general) where the environment needs to stay intact for the most part for the fight to continue. Speed is also not depicted very interestingly most of the time. Like with DB they eventually just zoom around a lot, but it's not like the martial art changes.
