I've been burned once or twice but I still find great artists around the 8k-12k yen price point. Most western artists charge twice that for thigh-ups.

Gorgeous. I love the exaggerated proportions you use for drawing girls, but you draw a damn good guy as well. The stark black shading really stands out with your bold lines, and the hatching is done wonderfully too. And that wistful smile combined with the tired eyelids really makes me feel some kind of way.
I've had an exhausting (but fun) weekend so I can't into words good right now, but it truly is a joy to see him drawn, and looking straight at me like this. I am going to be honest with you but those look very cheap. The clay looks like very cheap polymer clay that wasnt postprocessed properly, the face has that cheap westoid how to draw manga look, the texture on the clothes is too blunt and lacking and the painting is very matte and badly layered with cheap looking spraycans. I know that a fully customized and finished sculpt is very expensive but the sweater and long skirt makes me think you paid 50 dollars to some random muslim indonesian woman to make it.

You must be doing something wrong or haven't spend enough time interacting with artists. My waifu is a niche character from a series that already lost most of its popularity yet finding artists in Skeb and Pixiv is so easy the hard part is deciding which artist to pick.
Hell, even with western artist there's lots and lots of options with a good chunk of them being from the drawthreads.

Pretty much, but hoping they stick to your request is only if you don't put in some research to insure the artist in question will follow the request. Most artists have a history of works to review, you can view those and check the request and finished product to determine if it matched.

Furthermore, even if the request is Hidden(which means anyone not the requester can't see it on Skeb, but can be posted elsewhere), if you look for the presence of a gold border, you can tell if a lot of people are satisfied or not. Gold Border means someone sent a Boost, which is basically a tip that allows them to give extra money and leave a comment.

The Boost border is conclusive evidence that people are happy, because people can still be satisfied without a tip, but if you see it a lot, it's a pretty good indication that people are enjoying their work.

Additionally, best practice is to look at the Average response/delivery dates posted on Skeb. Not every artist has this, but most do, makes it easier to decide if you'd want to take the chance.

tldr, research before requesting and you're golden. Been requesting for years on Skeb and have never had a single issue.
