Takopi’s Original Sin
This is the most absurd, manipulative shit I’ve ever seen in anime form. Why does JP media constantly try to sell this ridiculous image of bullying and domestic violence as the apex predators of trauma?

Japanese people tend to take things very personally, so bullying feels like an attack on their identity. They often don’t recognize that everyone gets bullied to some extent and that it can serve to correct behavior or release insecurities. They also struggle with accountability and handling criticism.

Why does the girls suffering NEVER includes an adult taking action? Could you image the kind of trouble there’d be if a desk in class got defaced like that? But in JP media the teachers do their level best to pretend nothing’s wrong lol.

I think they became writing tropes, especially bullying. Mangaka aren't basing these depictions off of things they personally experienced or saw, they're just narrative tools totally detatched from reality. And because they're detatched from reality they get progressively more extreme as mangaka have to one up eachother's torture porn for it to have any shock value.

The methods of bullying in these are exaggerated and fantastical, but that part is/was realistic for the country. Nails getting hammered down and all that.

You think any homeroom teacher visited the kids in this film?
Child neglect and teachers/school doing absolutely nothing is not uncommon.

Art doesnt have to be realistic but if it's going to be then do it right. Adults don't neglect bullying victims because they're cruel monsters as works like Takopii make it seem to shock the audience, but simply because they don't want to damage the institution's reputation with controversy.

The adults in Takopii are overall portrayed as sadistic or creepy when in reality the neglect is much more subtle (and that's why abuse is so hard to treat in Japan).

Like who? The only adults with any sort of non-trivial portrayal are the mothers. Shizuka's is neglectful, and Azuma's is overbearing, which just leave's Marina's. Fathers are practically or literally absent, and teachers barely come up. Where are all these sadistic adults?
Anonymous No.281566991 >>281567699

Shizuka's mother acts is tottaly dismissive and her father literally abandon her in the city. Marina's mother is psychotic and her father is toxic and aggressive. And Azuma's mother is a manipulative bitch. I know battle shonen villains who are more down to earth.

The teachers are LITERALLY just standing there watching one of the kids' desks being severely defaced with messages like DIE etc. IRL bullying doesn't happen right in front of teachers because that would get everyone is massive trouble; it happens in stairwells, behind buildings and on the streets. But for shock value we always have to have the bullying happening in this bizarre surreal classroom environment directly in front of teachers who go out of their way to pretend they don't see it. Also, parents wouldn't be screaming at each other with their minor daughter literally sitting right there between them, mothers wouldn't be doing domestic violence against their children over said arguments. Real abuse is much more subtle, much less cartoonish, but that's not shocking enough to manipulate an audience.

Takopi is basically a dark comedy. It’s supposed to be over-the-top. You’re talking about a show where a boy gets traumatized by pancakes and a girl gets killed by being whacked on the head with a camera while classical music plays.

What is the apex predator of trauma? The fact that you've never kissed, hugged, or had sex with a girl?

Shit I forgot about Shizuka's dad, guy literally pretended not to know her to her face lol -- while she was clearly in a mess. That's comical villainy, evil to the point of being laughable, not shocking. I feel that even Muzan would at least acknowledge her identity lol.

I heard that the messages on desk thing actually happens in Japan. And I can tell you for a fact that parents definitely scream at each other in front of their children.

Actually Muzan would be a heroic figure in this story, noticing Shizuka's potential and making her demon giving her actual magic powers by which she can fix everything in her life on her own.

One of the few things I liked about Ichinose is that the extreme Shizukaesque bullying the MC recieved in the first chapters was actually an over exaggeration that the guy created in his head. It's not like he wasn't bullied, but his mental state and the fact that he felt alone and that even his friends abandoned him made it feel 100 times more hellish than what it really was. It's a more human and realistic depiction of the great negative effects bullying can have in the Psyche no matter how minimal it is, too bad the execution was shit.

In this show, their parents and the teachers are obviously quite bad.
But there is at least one other show where that's not the case at all, and bullying is a big side plot for one of the main side characters and others, and it's handled completely differently.
That's a big spoiler for the show so I won't directly mention it unless someone really wants to know.

How come Shizuka did not fight back one bit during all the bullying? Why did she just curl into a ball and take it all? Surely any victim would at least make an effort to fight back? We find out she can be really violent in the last 2 episodes using a rock as a weapon and all
Anonymous No.281571845
Also her bullying which quickly descends into homicidal insanity was literally only there to provide moral cover for death. Like that scene in Gantz where Nishi’s class THROWS NISHI OUT THE WINDOW, a homicidal action meant only to give Nishi moral cover to go school shooter on them — even though he was wearing his suit so he could have easily overpowered his entire class if he wanted to at any point but had to allow himself to be thrown out of the window in order to get moral cover. JP media is fucking enslaved to moral law.

Her bullies outnumbered her, used the system against her and went to the extreme to hurt her.
The blond bitch /a/ loves so much had no issue using school supplies as weapons.
Your mother being a stupid bitch and your father being a cheating bastard is no excuse to torture the daughter of the whore your father pays to suck his tiny pecker.

No, they are normal people making bad decisions due to an exaggerated attachment to traditions. In Japan the harmony of the family, the company and the nation is always put first. Things like bullying, hikikomori and suicide are the side effects.
