It was a great ending but i'm not totally satisfied about not having gotten a chapter with the butler character whos name escapes me.

I've been reading this manga since the start in April 2019, and dumping it for the past 3.5 years, ever since chapter 134. I hope you've all gotten as much enjoyment from it as I have.
And keep an eye out for the remaining two volumes. Volume 18 is scheduled for November 4th and volume 19 for January 5th. I'll translate and dump the volume extras as always.

I've never had an issue with the repetitive nature of the manga, but I really hoping the final chapter would be something a bit more substantial. That could have been literally any other chapter with a one-page "finale" stapled to the end.

The ending honestly felt like any normal chapter compared with to the previous one, so it's not a bad ending just an uneventful one. There was also hardly any buildup for such a long-running series that I still didn't think it was real (like they'd announce a sequel series immediately with Hime-sama in her new role as ambassador). It's strange that a series with a guaranteed formula of success that honestly could have went 20+ volumes didn't go ahead and make it to chapter 300 or stay in serialization for the 2nd cour next year. I think something must have happened with the authors, but it's fine as they say don't be sad it's over but be glad it happened.

Also I guess/hope they are saving the rest of the cast's ending appearance for an omake chapter.
We never got to see the other two Holy Swords mentioned besides Ex (Deus & Machina of the other two orders of the Imperial Legion beside Hime's Third) brought together mentioned back in Ch. 48 which I assumed would contribute to the climax.

That really feels like it was axed.

I like the juxtaposition of what people expect from torture and what actually happens in this manga. Doubly so if you know about the actual history/psychology of interrogation and how treating a prisoner nicely is much more effective at extracting reliable information compared to harsh physical torture.

Afterword from the author's Youtube. Just skimmed the auto-subtitles, but it looks like the series ending was his choice and he, the editor, and artist decided on it about a year ago.

Author was planning to give an ending for each character, but there wasn't enough time for it all so he might give the ideas to the anime team.

Ecchi elements in the first few chapters came because the author was aiming for a demographic of adult men who just want to read something nice after work, but it ended up being enjoyed by everyone. The whole "every chapter being good to unwind to" is why there aren't many plot developments and why all the foods chosen are simple (so you can eat them the day after)

Agreed. Having one last torture was fitting, but I wanted to see more about the peace deal, Momo growing up, what the other torturers were getting up to, etc.

The anime ends is a pretty faithful adaption only slightly reordering a few chapters and ends abut Ch. 49 (Vol. 4) so if you want to watch the show and pickup the manga there in preparation for the next anime season at the start of next year that'd be a good way to do it.

I think a core element of why it worked was that all of the characters were just Nice. Princess probably could have easily fought her way out of like 90% of the prison but didn't, because she was friends with her captors- who only ever like, fed her good food, and played games with her. The Helllord effectively stopped the war because it interrupted his anime time and could have endangered his adorable daughter.

In the farm chapter Vanilla is the only character Hime was shown touching and in the carnival prize chapter Hime was trying for the hardest target because it was Vanilla’s favorite character.
