Is it just me or did the Naruto world pre-shippuden, p seem much more dangerous?

The first time I watched Naruto, I was like in 4th grade or something. I skipped school because I was sick at that time, and they aired Naruto so I decided to watch it out of curiosity. It was the OP pic episode.
If I recall correctly, it was the one where he drank expired milk and pretends to be Sasuke. I remember laughing really hard back then and I got hooked on the series.
