I’m genuinely surprised that more people don’t realise that the running theme throughout all of Ikuhara’s works is outsiders being trampled upon by an unjust society. He just focuses on LGBT people a lot because they’re a group that have been marginalised in Japan for as long as Ikuhara has been alive.

Even then, he made Penguindrum, which is about the injustice of children being expected to carry the sins of their parents. It has nothing to do with LGBT elements aside from having 1 bi character.

Don't get me wrong, Ikuhara enjoys and fetishizes gay shit, but he's far removed from any LGBT movement or explicit gay sexuality.
