The ads have been run on TV in Britain for years with that same song and the footage in the back is always of a family or couple doing exciting holiday things like jumping in the pool or going on water slides. It’s not much of a stretch to start replacing that happy footage with people doing holiday stuff that doesn’t end as well as the ads. That, and the ads have been repeated for years with the same song and slogan I think it’s ingrained into the brains of anyone here who’s watched TV.
It is weird how it breached containment outside of the UK though. I think the White House posted it on a deportation video and then there’s that Kara art. Very little chance that either party knew what it actually meant.
