Could a live-action adaptation of Berserk work?
Considering how successful Netflix's Live-Action One Piece was, could that same success also apply to a potential live-action Berserk? Will a live-action Berserk suck (but quite suck as hard as Berserk 2016)?

Berserk is a fantasy style series like Game of Thrones, so it would actually be way more badass than the usual adaptations.

Unironic answer independent from any opinion about the worth of Netflix, no.
Too much action stuff. Like, Guts slaughters hundreds of humans and apostles and accursed beings possessed by dark spirits for many chapters in the first 18 volumes and more.
You will not be able to make a live action series about that type of action horror fantasy without relying on huge amounts of shitty cheap cgi, and that means that it wouldn't be worth watching the series, since it would barely be live action.

You will get a one hour love story between gritheth and the royal that buggared him culminating in a ten minute anatomically ignorant crust busting scene like the one in The Last of Us(tm)

A combination of wanting to see how characters, locations and fictional elements would look like in the real world, and wanting their favorite stories to be "legitimatized" because live-action is srs bzns.

Maybe in the 90s. The age of busty warrior chicks has passed.

Anything could work. But won't. Look at Netflix with Cowboy Bebop and OP.

Yes. But you'd have to adopt either Black Swordsman or Lost Children to make it work, none of this "Start with Golden Age" crap every previous adaption tries. Lost Children in particular would work great as a pseudo-western in the tradition of:
>Town beset by problem
>Mysterious violent stranger who is expert in said problem comes to town
>Stranger solves problem by being a badass.
Just use the little girl he saves as the viewpoint character. Only give the audience hints (maybe a single disorienting ptsd dream flashback where he wakes up screaming) as to why Guts is on his "kill all demons" quest. It's the exact kind of movie that Hollywood used to do so well.

They will made it a gay multicultural fantasy setting instead of respecting racial separations.

We should make a semi-3D version!

It's a better idea than One Piece live action at least. But I wouldn't be interested. Not sure why people want CG live action versions of fantasy cartoons. At best it'll be an inferior version, unless it does its own thing, but now it looks like copying the source material to a fault is what makes money.

It would need to be something heavily stylized in the vein of 300 and Watchmen, with intentionally unrealistic action and character designs. Basically get Snyder to direct it.

I resent the idea that things have more value if they're live action. No live action adaptation of anything has ever even equaled the source material
