You're really just meant to interpret it as Oden being so cool that him bothering to come to your funeral and share a "last drink" with his buddy completely overrides any kind of social norm. His relationship with his friend was of higher importance than that of his close family, even his daughter and wife. All because Oda wanted a larger than life figure but didn't want to invest time to show it in a more grounded way. Man, fuck Oden.

I contributed to it but I was being ironic, I don't really dislike Oden, his flashback is entertaining enough. His mistakes and painful death even out his story for me. Yamato is a worse character, but even she has likable qualities.

The reason that I hate Oden is because Kinemon already exists.
Just look at this flashback. Kinemon was a delinquent. Kinemon is a great swordsman. Kinemon is Momo's father figure. Kinemon failed to protect his country.
But no, there's just a delinquenter, strongerer, daddyer Oden who is gonna make an even bigger mistake than Kinemon.

Why isn't this flashback about Kinemon's journey from outcast to daimyo and his failure to stop Kaido?
