Help me understand the mindset of anime/manga fans who completely ignore the main characters and plot and fixate on side characters and minor details that only exist to flesh out the main characters and story. This stuff doesn't exist in a vacuum, it exists in service of the things that matter.
If you're not here for the thing the story is actually about it, and actively refuse to engage with it, why are you a "fan" at all?

They have specific personalities so they cling onto a specific aspect of the work. Also you shouldn't try to quantify how much of a fan someone is of something based on what they like about the work, it's rude to their feelings.
For example, I enjoyed Vagabond, but I only care about Yoshioka Seijurou. For One Piece, I only like Big Mom and Enel and Boa. I don't love these works, but I enjoy them.

Those main characters have the entire mangas to themselves and a fanbase that discusses their only move while the jobbers only have me.

They don't enjoy works as stories but as dollhouses
