The introduction of Furuta and the declining mental state of Ishida is what ruined Tokyo Ghoul. Thankfully he seems to be doing much better with Choujin X, although given Furuta's resemblance to Mr. Noh mask, I am getting the feeling that this is some kind of Ishida quasi self-insert.

eh, TG was the work of a talented junior. choujin x is definitely his mature work. it doesn't try to be flashy and it's not overdone - the characters have weight and substance, even when they are deliberately kind of goofy.
i would say choujin x significantly superior even to part 1 TG, and i'm a part 1 elitist.

I think Ishida has massively upgraded the same concept with Batista. He's flat out one of the best ongoing manga antagonists, even if it looks like his arc has more or less concluded.

I wouldn't even consider him a good one since the things that made him stand out as an antagonist vanished into thin air with the recent developments.
Hackshida did this with Takizawa in :re too. They're entertaining until they have a personality-switch out of nowhere, completely lose their crazyness and screen presence, and end up becoming boring pieces of shit.

The recent developments are a natural progression of his character arc. He simply got his pyrrhic victory, lived 6 years inside a false reality and mellowed out, becoming "that" Batista who has existed before his merge with Nue. This is literally one of the most unique antagonist arcs in a while.

The only thing i disliked about stealing the Mark is that Sandek just stood there. Otherwise:

TG was on the path to a classic but then ishida had his mental breakdown and writer's block which killed it.
Everything build up was thrown out to end it quickly.

Wasn't Furuta's main goal to rape his sister Rize? Why is he getting the "I just wanted to be normal" line?

I assume the Calamity will be a result of everyone's fuckups. Nue is like Ganishka in Berserk, he holds a spacetime anomaly inside and god knows what will happen if it becomes unstable.
