No. And here you've pointed out yet another negative implication that has resulted from this revelation that real Nicolas was always alive. Another negative implication of course is that it undermines that rather striking backstory of fake Nicolas "killing the protagonist".
Sandwich, as always, is a hack. Sadly, as the obeisance from some anons in the previous thread demonstrated, some of his readers keep falling for it and want to believe the man is a genius who has always keikaku doori'd everything.

One of Sandro's rare good points. With a cast this large most of the characters are going to be forgettable due to appearing too rarely so without the name panels everywhere many of us would have trouble remembering who's who.
You know this is true - can you even remember the name of this manga's main character?

Cults thrive on taking advantage of the less mentally fortitude and the Worm is massive, even after turning into a skeleton crew it's still apparently massive enough to house a giant super computer in Hong Kong.
What's the issue with recruiting a couple of mentally deranged lunatics who want to kill people, that's already what these guys are looking for. They don't need to be exceptionally top tier. More bodies for the Worm, we already know from one of the Worms that they consider themselves replaceable.
The issue here though is Nicolas hanging out with Yan and Xia. There's no way he's that good to be hanging out with the Head of the Worm and his brother
My best guess is that Nicolas was told to kill the Special Ops group him and Jean were a part of as a Worm because the Ops were considered a threat to the Worm somehow

I've always seen Haru as having the highest stats an all-rounder could have. No he isn't physically as strong as Julius or as fast as Rei but he would have been faster, stronger, and higher stamina than fighters who have a relatively equal glut of strength and speed like Ohma, Raian, Kanoh, Lolong, Fei, etc. Basically he would have been the perfect canvas to paint an op fighting style on but instead he lost all his athleticism and speed, got a bad knee, and learned worthless pro wrestling. Seki has shown that it isn't useless and that having high athleticism and physicality is a great boon to the capability of the style. With Haruo's swiftness and strength combined he'd probably be a more aggressive Seki who can fling himself all over the place with extra grace and force. We saw him do and extremely balanced backflip against Akoya and that was before he'd trained at all and was a fat fuck.
I'm not saying he'd be anything approaching the strongest, but pro wrestling, or any suitably trained style, would still be a great boon to an in-shape Haruo.

That combined with a shitload of muscles THEORETICALLY means fighters like that would gas out rapidly if fighting someone with a more normal body to fat ratio.

Your overall power as a fighter is like super armor in post-Purgatory Omega, and Lolong presumably cleared hundreds of shitters using his anti-precognition elbows and Silat fundamentals until put up against seekers and actual magic.

Himuro greatly sacrifices his ability to JUST FUCKIN WIN against anyone stronger than Ryuki, in exchange for owning a different power that lets him powerscale himself to anyone. So that even when he loses, he at least manages to make them work for it.

Not saying Sandro had this all scribbled out just yesterday but Sandro absolutely is aware of when he fucks up, his ways of fixing those fuckups and the timing just varies.
Like when he killed off Eddie but realized Eddie was too much of a fan favorite to kill off so immediately he creates Gilbert as compensation and then barely touches him. Yeah Gilbert's 'around' but he only exists so Sandro can fix one his mistakes that he can't go back on
The "Don't trust Nicolas" is also another fuck up but it took years to properly iron out because Sandro probably didn't seen much wrong with it at first and the explanation was fine on paper. It wasn't top priority till 5 years later and people are still asking about what it meant. "Nicolas stole someones identity after killing them and is le crazy" works as an explanation to not trust him but since it's a Worm saying this and Jeans backstory has fuck all to do with the Worms there's little reason why Naidan would tell Liu this or even know this happened at all unless you'd say that the Worms were gonna replace Jean at some point and needed background info
Refitting the backstory that Nicolas survived and was involved with the Worm's is there to fix the fuck up but there still lies an issue of Naidan making the warning if Jean wasn't any danger to Liu or anyone else as Naidan would know it was just self-defense. Yes Jean wants to kill somebody but he also joined Purgatory which has no kill rules, if he was being serious about it he would have joined Kengan or simply found another position that would let him kill people. As it stands, his Nicolas personality isn't that serious and Jean still has control over his own behavior. He's not Akoya who needs to be yanked off people like a retarded Pitbull eating a child. And if you say Naidan was warning Liu of another Worm then idk why he'd do that other than cuz he really liked Liu

Sandro really hates that monke for no discernible reason. I am sure that if one of β€œus” ever hires a detective to look into Sandrobitch’s past he’ll find out that as a child a big bulky man accidentally stepped on his foot and made him cry in front of the entire class, or something.

The "Don't trust Nicolas" fuck up absolutely stems from whatever was going on with Terashi. Terashi's backstory definitely changed drastically before he finally got to fight, I doubt he was meant to be Vibrator Man. When his backstory changed to being a Hitman there needed to be an explanation to why a Hitman was in Purgatory so a characters backstory had to be sacrificed, which is what happened to Nicolas

It may just be this place gaslighting me but I feel that Sandro even treats other heel characters better than Yumi. Take, I don’t know, Willem at least being saddled with jobber gimmicks to create the pretence of him being a credible threat. Or Lu Tian at least being given a pretence of pathos while hunted in the sewers. Or Mukaku at least going out swinging even as he devolved and Sandro himself seemed unsure about how much of a heel he was supposed to be. Or Tiger Niko who…okay, he lost an immense amount of aura, but at least he’s still allowed to pretend like he has ongoing ambitions unlike Yumi who is literally the victim in his fight. And then isn’t even afforded a moral highground because Koga has to just go and let him know the Yakuza wants that ontologically evil orangutan dead for killing people incompetently.

I don't think he was even incompetent at it, he was just going for the highest bidder which isn't too far out of the realm of possibilities of being a common thing in Kengan's Underworld. The Kure very openly and gleefully betray their clients not just if the money runs out but also if they feel like it. Muteba just fucks off if he actually has to try nowadays and Kuroki is so ultra-specific about his targets I doubt he gets any real work anymore

>I just don’t understand why Terashi couldn’t be a hitman who’s also a genuine martial artist
I think it's fine for Terashi to primarily be an assassin who isn't a huge martial arts guy, but as long as he at least knows some CQC to pass himself off as a middling fighter for the infiltration job. Hell, maybe the French government could have wanted him for his skills in being untraceable due to frequently changing identities or being discreet or just for having a 100% success rate even in diverse conditions. They could have made Terashi a guy who can adapt to any job well enough to confirm the kill and move on, so despite not being a trained martial artist he was willing to dabble enough and assume and identity to infiltrate the dog and pony show that is Purgatory to get close to his target. Make him like a mix of Chiba and Kaneda, but geared toward assassination.
He could have still given Okubo some trouble by being experienced in a variety of scenarios and having the determination to see any job through. The reason he'd ultimately lose to Okubo is because Okubo is just a straight up combat sports guy who was more fit for the ruleset than Terashi and because Terashi specializes in studying up on a target and tuning his skills to deal with them. Since he wouldn't know ahead of time who he's fighting, he'd only have time to develop the skills to deal with a basic level of opponent.
Instead, Sandro made Terashi a guy who specialized specifically in weapon kills and was even willing to recommend other, more fitting assassins to the French. Then when they insisted, for some reason he chose to get experimental brain surgery to shiver good and have good eyesight.
I know this is a huge amount of autism and far more thought than Sandro put into the character, but I do wonder if any of the anons here have ever posited a concept for what Terashi was going to be that came close to any of the draft versions of the character.

Maybe he was leaving to deal with Nicholas and Goat strongarmed him into fighting someone he wasn’t prepared for which he complied with not to blow his cover. Maybe instead of fucking brain surgery-based superpowers which should logically cost too much for assassin jobs to reliably afford, he’s just immensely proud of his weapons skills and thought he could take Okubo hand to hand. You'd think that someone who works full time as a writer (and who apparently has enough time to simultaneously write 3 other manga) has enough time to plan out the details of a story that the author in question very clearly wants to be a layered story with lots of worldbuilding and connecting plots and mysteries. Basically, yeah. Terashi is one of the most inconsistent and ill-conceived new characters and he feels like nothing compared to a lot of the more egregious, plot-relevant characters we have running around. You can really tell that he went through multiple vague drafts and concepts before Sandro had to open the mystery box, and waffling about his with character for so long left him with nothing built up for him or that could reasonably connect.

He wasn't even an A-lister. He was the sole B-lister on the team who Goat included because he thought he was interesting. He was a relatively recent transfer from the acquisition of Bishamon's roster, so Terashi clearly planned to play a long game of getting close to his target, but then for some reason this barely average fighter whose only gimmicks of shivering and good eyes were enough to get Goat to consider him for "the strongest team he could think of."
This means that Terashi scrubbed his way through Bishamon for a while, somehow beat enough shitters or had a good enough reputation to make B-list alongside people like Mark Myers, and then impressed Goat enough with his potential to land him a space on the tournament team ahead of recent A-list addition Kim Jong-Gi.

>AND now the Wu
The Chinese Wu to be fair. On the Worm’s team: Apart from rando specialists who survived the purges like Hiruko (the Juri Han-looking girl who replaced Nogi’s secretary by hiding in a closet and wearing her clothes while she was on sick leave. Somehow) or Fu Zhan, they retconned Eddie/Gilbert into a Connector kneeler. So the entire Westward Wu faction is effectively at their beck and call despite Shen’s opinion on having subordinates. They also seem to be on relatively good terms with the surviving Consecutors considering the Consecutors didn’t throw in with Luohan, so they could probably call in some favours there. Theoretically they might have some extra Tiger Niko students since it’s never specified how many haven’t been told to kill themselves, Fei/Lu Tian showed that while loyal to Tigger they’re also very ambitious and open to working with anyone who can offer them substantial advantages just like Lu Tian liked the cut of Xia Ji’s jib enough to be on his team for a while (unlike that monster Luohan). There’s also the Death Dealers, an entire multinational military company who are apparently more loyal to the Connector than to their nominal CEO. It’d be shocking if they didn’t have ANY skilled fighters or useful contacts; at the very least if Yan was invested enough in this farce to force KA’s hand he could just order them to come in with guns while KA’s best and brightest are isolated. Finally, remember way back in the day Hayami was conspiring with the Worm to overthrow the KA? NOW of course no noble Kenganvenger CEO would be anything less than loyal, but in theory the Worm could flash around a wad of cash to get more third parties on their side.

I’m not saying the Worm will make good use of ANY of this, I’m just saying that on paper they should be the one with the stacked fighter roster even after killing off their entire organisation.

That was the reasoning he gave after the tournament was over, but he didn't call out exactly who he meant by that IIRC. It's true that Terashi could be among them, but why specifically him over any number of other fighters? Terashi wasn't the only new fighter he got and we were never given any indication he's ever done anything but fit in while at Purgatory. There was no outside of the ring drama that established Terashi in a way that would make it seem like Toyoda was worried about him. Hell, he sheltered shiftier people like Le Banner and he knew Yumigahama was disloyal based on how he acquired him.
Setting that aside, that being his reasoning felt very tacked on much like how Toyoda sort of exists to just be a quirky, bombastic guy instead of a cunning and ambitious business tycoon.
"Why yes, I threw the competition and cost myself my fighting promotion on purpose just to see if a few weirdos on my roster would act up during the event" doesn't make him sound very competent.

>Yan is a weird nanny
Yan’s role in the story is utterly bizarre specifically because the Worm’s goals are framed more as appeasement rather than reverence of Shen. So you can’t even say he’s like, a devoted cultist or something. Yan is simultaneously terrified of Shen going loco (as seen even now when he shits a brick hearing Tiger, who he somehow recognises, on Dragon’s phone) but also fusses over him going places and potentially getting in danger. He’s been fucked over by rewrites as much as Terashi.

Honestly I would’ve accepted β€œGoat liked the cut of his jib” if it was explicit, we already have the precedent of the Falcon basically getting in on nepotism and I could see Goat deciding that what this high-stakes tournament for literal ownership of his company really needs is a COOL assassin guy (since on paper Naidan, Fei, Lu Tian, Lolong and Alan alone should’ve guaranteed a clean sweep. I've always subscribed to the idea that Kengan has most of the known big talent and a lot of the hidden guys already under their thumb because their collective has a huge network of resources and ambitious business sharks who are willing to scour the world for hot talent. Purgatory has a few exceptions, but I imagine that Purgatory is just that much weaker because it's an entertainment organization that has only really risen into prominence in the last few years.
I think the initial idea that inter-corpo politics would make it hard to form a collective effort to keep Toyoda out with how splintered things are under Nogi's rule, but it was played out so poorly and Kengan sent a stacked team even with the murderers anyway.

Think of Komada and how he was just a filler fighter for Nogi while his real fighter was at the cleaners. The KAT was all the best of the best and a handful of unknown ringers that got called in to show that there was more great talent out there that weren't already KA mainstays.

Tigger was getting his assbeat by Kiryu until he got serious offscreen. Hushen is actively trying against sub-Ohma fighters, and of course his fight with Ohma was offscreened to avoid disrespecting either chungus, implying they’re on closer footing. This is AFTER Hushen has had some time to get used to his body, mind.

In all fairness, Setsuna's goals have always been to do exactly enough to kill who he needs to kill or get himself killed in the way he wants to. He's less of a fighter and more of a murderer, so he's really carried by his genius-level innate talent even if he doesn't actually care about fighting for the sake of it. He "trained" Ryuki by getting him to stick to killing as a means to an end and taught him to use Rakshasa's Palm, which we're told normally takes years to master on its own. Most of their time together was spent killing Worms more so than training. Ryuki just asked him to make him a better killer again.
Ryuki was already a competent fighter from the outside, easy to forget as it is, but he was gimping himself in the Kengan Matches. He's just not as talented as Setsuna so he couldn't take to the Rakshasa's Palm as easily. I'd bet that Setsuna didn't even teach him any of his Niko Style stuff because he doesn't like to use "his techniques" to begin with and uses them sparingly.

I personally believe that Sandro originally wanted to have YET ANOTHER plot thread involving Setsuna as a maverick element and quaternary antagonist who was going to be part of the scrapped plot surrounding Ryuki being "The Omega" and Koga's larger intermediate development, but decided to scrap it all to instead make Setsuna tragically unwell and misunderstood.
He left room for Setsuna to still be on his shit from the KAT, but realized it was probably better for him to be partially fixed after what he went through and decided to focus on the more positive points of his character.

Ryuki works as a top dog within the context that he's not strong enough to fight the "real" top dogs without killing, but he's fully capable of killing people at the KAT level if only the rules would allow it. He's been trained since nearly birth to be a murder machine by Mukaku with all of the more rounded refinements of the Niko Style stripped away to focus purely on efficiency.
Like this is a guy who showed up at Metsudo's doorstep ready to scrap, was able to whip Ren and Kokuro's asses like it was nothing, and was later pretty confident in his ability to murder Akoya if he had to. You'd expect that Sandro would have actually played into the angle of Ryuki being too pure in his training to be an efficient killer that holding back to just a few non-lethal moves was the main reason he struggled at all. Then all it took was two years of training with sportsman for Koga and two years of "stagnating" by killing people in sewers for Koga to blow past him.

Man, i sometimes wonder how cool it would've been, if he outright murdered one of previoys Ashura characters. Someone memorable and decently strong. Picture this, the fight goes as always, but Ryuki can't seem to win, then, he gets knocked out, loses control and uses something like that system from Niko style that shuts down the nervous system (or whatever nonsense it was). Pretty good setup for him to leave kengan gang for some self evaluation.

>if he outright murdered one of previoys Ashura characters
That's pretty much the root cause why this manga is a mess, previous characters aren't allowed to lose, or if they do, it's because they were too strong too win. So the alternative because the villains always lose and now Sandro has to desperately try and convince you that they're super strong and evil and definitely won't lose on the next fight.

I'm of course speaking of the hypothetical way in which Ryuki could have been fixed. The Berserker Bowl obviously dragged him through the mud, but up until then he was actually doing pretty well. He struggled a few times under Kengan no-kill rules, but he seemed confident enough in his ability to seal the deal if he had to. Naidan is just an extension of this because he was trying really hard not to have to kill anyone and he was confused about a sudden Worm appearing just to kick the shit out of him and threaten/goad him cryptically. The moment he went for the kill though, he secured it. He just regressed after the timeskip to the point of struggling with people who should have been well within his wheelhouse before.

Basically I'm almost positive that Setsuna was originally going to be evil and a corrupting influence on Ryuki. There's not really many other ways to read him explicitly pushing Ryuki to becoming more of a killer for something like the Berserker bowl despite him knowing the KA's current stance on killing, and Ohma even shows up and calls him out on turning Ryuki worse and more crazy, only for Setsuna to deflect.
But then at some point Sandro realized that Setsuna was a Kengan Ashura character and therefore can't be evil and did a completely 180 and had Setsuna reverse his stance going 'oops I didn't actually mean to do that to Ryuki, I have no idea what I was doing, sorry'.

That’s how low Setsuna and Ryuki have sunk, they’re basically canon corrected evil woman wives in everything but gender (and Setsuna still hellbent on ruining his own life because he rightfully thinks a Kenganvenger free pass to forgiveness is bullshit)

I remember someone mentioning that Setsuna should have been the one to save Kazzy instead of Ohma and Raian and I think anon was right
Like a sign of good faith that Setsuna does for Kazzy because Ohma liked him and Setsuna seemed to like Kazzy enough too for some reason. A nice road to redemption if Sandro wanted to Setsuna to be a good guy instead of a weird Anti-Protagonist. Even participating in KvP as a way to earn some favor with Metsudo and Nogi since Setsuna 'did' kill some of Metsudo's men, a "Win us a round and I'll overlook it" deal.
There was never a need for Setsuna to corrupt Ryuki, Akoya was right there being setup as Ryuki's Teacher. Setsuna corrupting Ryuki because he's still on about the whole God thing just feels forced because otherwise the dude should have died back in KAT

This is annoying because despite that, of the """main""" characters, Ryuki is still by and far the least sold on Shen (which isn't saying /much/ but whatever), and we just saw he's legitimately more concerned about the body jacking than Ohma and Koga. But this isn't actually going to lead to any further interactions with L*ohan, like you said. Haru is genuinely, honestly quite possibly the weakest fighter in the whole Anihhilation Tournament.

Contenders who had weak showing in their first round.

Robinson: Despite getting wrecked by Raian, was actually one of the favourites to win and by fight history was one of the top fighters alongide the likes of Wakatsuki and Agito. During his fight with Raian even Erioh genuinely thought it was over, but mostly because he didn't want Raian to break out Removal infront of the crowd.

Nezu: As we've seen Purgatory is a big enough deal, the Champ of Bishamon is likely a lot stronger than given credit for. His build is similar to Agito with incredible reach and don't overlook that his kicks were faster than even experienced fighters could follow, a feat really only matched by Rei and Gaolang's lightning jabs. I feel he is a lot stronger than his loss suggests and he just fucked up by taking a low guard and not expecting an blitz-uppercut.

Nikaido: His wombo-combo looks like it sucked, but Setsuna needs to be on deaths door to activate his limit-break move, so he did genuinely one-shot Setsuna but he had some Focus-Sash-Endeavour-Quick-Attack combo himself.

Rihito: Managed to get at least one solid blow against Gensai and honestly his biggest feat at that point, his bathroom brawl, Raian had to use Removal to beat him down.
,
Meanwhile Harou went against Akoya and spent the first half of the fight getting absolutely clowned on until he took that first big knock down and hit his "Avatar mode", which his only hits were entirely due Hiyama Shunka's flawed timing, followed by him holding back while she tried to figure it out. The second he said "Times up, I'll just kill him." he proceeded to put him down with absolute lack of effort and avoided having to murder him by the guy crumbling under his own weight.

Harou is weak. The only fighters that might be weaker would be Chiba or Sawada, who are both seemingly pretty pathetic.
