It's actually very detailed and correct anatomy, it's just extremely stylized and exaggerated.
Itagaki it's one of the greatest illustrator who has ever lived: anyone can learn how to draw photorealistic images, it's another thing to master perspective like him

Its like each of the characters with crazy musculature is a more like an action figure then a person. Itagaki does great with showing motion and speed. Its always pleasing to the eye when looking at fights.

Referencing is always an important part of art. That shows that even pros always do it. Especially when it comes to mangas.
I remember Daro's Kengan Asura behind the scenes pages and whenever he was making fight scenes or drawing martial arts moves Sandro and Kobayashi would personally show and demonstrate the moves for him.

I only started after watching the netflix anime when it came out...
and after I had been seeing people posting about it in the kengan ashura read along threads years ago.
I've never been happier to have picked up a manga recommended by /a/ in my life, Baki is just one of those manga's that you can almost call perfect

Its alright anon. A lot of guys on /a/ who love the shit out of Baki used to say the same. They are usually in the right at a first glance especially at some of the crazy pages in the series since Baki is mainly a manga for Japanese audience's and just that (Hence why it took till now to finally get an official English translation). But when you start reading Baki/Garouden/Shaman, you see that Itagaki is a incredible artist while also being the inspiration for many manga creators. Even his daughter Paru! (Beast stars creator).

I started baki from zero this year and now i am up to date (all the mangas, animes, especials, spin offs) mostly because i was a fan of kengan ashura and read the crossover.
But the other reason is just that i feel japan forgot how to do a proper shonen, modern shonen feels catered towards women more than men, more about being surbversive towards the spirit and soul of the genre instead of relishing in it, shonen should be about manly man breaking their limits for their goals/passions but i dont see it anymore, modern anime doesnt interest me (romcom/isekai) so i said fuck it and started reading/watching old shit i missed.
Is baki retarded, silly, has some weird artwork and can be downright homoerotic sometimes? Yes and thats part of the appeal, i feel baki is as weird if not even more bizarre than jojo at times mostly thanks to the artwork.

Honestly, Baki is the least pretentious shounen around. It doesn't try to elevate the format, it doesn't try to be more than it is. It revels in its own absurdity, it dies on molehills because it doesn't care about catering to the audience, and Itagaki is so insane he comes back around to being the most rational person in the room in a way that befuddles everyone who tries to criticize his work. After all, who is the bigger schizo: The schizo who likes Baki, or the person trying to convince the schizo that they're stupid for liking Baki?

I disagree. I think Baki is absolutely miles above other shonen. Baki feels like discussing martial arts with an old coach, while most shonen you can read are some variation of "MC joins an underground org that hunts supernatural evil beings".

If part 6 is all about jack then he should win and learn a lesson after a difficult battle.
But part 5 felt so random and pointless that i cant tell anymore that is going to happened, i feel that jack character already peaked with part 1, he feels pointless after the tournament.
Hot take but i think jack should have died of heart failure at the end of the tournament.
