Is being a fan of iyashikei just a way of avoiding having your tastes mocked?
I mean, if the work itself doesn’t say anything, there’s nothing to criticize. And you can always hide behind generic shit like ‘appreciating the little things in life'

So are people not allowed to like it, because?
It's just relaxing/fun to watch, you can also like mutliple things at once. And nobody is forcing you to like this one, i know this is a hard concept to grasp.

Is being a fan of battleshonen just a way of avoiding having your tastes mocked?
I mean, if the work itself doesn't say anything except "fights are cool" and "the power of friendship," there's nothing to criticize. And you can always hide behind generic shit like "muh moeshit."

This is iyashikei under any definition of the word, beside not being Japanese, and surely has something to say
Maybe Aria does too, uh?

There’s not much to discuss. It's like appreciating the direction of a film that’s already been praised by critics precisely for its direction.
It’s an incredibly safe position

Aria has a lot to say though. I still remember Alicia's lecture on positive reinforcement over negative reinforcement. I use it with my own pets now.

Why yes, I do enjoy character traits which cause me to feel passion or excitement.
You do too.
I guess that makes you a moetard too.
Welcome to the thread, fellow moetard.

>using the definition as a mindless bot
In slice of life and iyashikei, moe isn’t just a random affection, it’s dialed up to eleven. Every little gesture, every tiny quirk, every mundane moment is designed to make you feel protective, tender, addicted to them.
It’s completely dishonest not to acknowledge the intentionality and to pretend that the moe shit in iyashigay is the same kind of feeling you get from things like mecha or other thing.

Boiling things like this down to an either/or has to be the hallmark of the simple mind. Too hard to think if they don't pare the thoughts down, they have to pick a side.

I call bullshit on that one.
Normies believe the battleshonen they watch on netfflix is peak anime quality and unique creativity.
Tell a Naruto watcher the truth about the standing of its anime?
You'll be ostracized as "that one who don't like anime" despite you having 5 Tera of animes only fansubbed, and if you bring it up you'll be called an autistic nerd who only like a specific genre, despite knowing more genre than they have seen combined.

that's just because Aria (the manga) is nearly flawless, the genre has nothing to do with it
I have plenty of critics for YKK for example, and I would be confused if someone said it's anywhere near as good as Aria because I would only give it a 7/10 at best

Why is /a/ so bad now? It's just the same retarded threads over and over made by unfunny redditors. I unironically don't want to discuss anime or manga here any more because I don't want you people to find out about it. I've had enough of this place.

Unironically yes. They tend to act like obnoxious faggots too.
I myself love Aria to death, but I definitely wouldn't take seriously opinion of anyone who considers it one of their favorite anime. The same thing goes for rest of ""highbrow"" animanga.
I simply assume that any other person who likes things I like, is nothing more than pretentious faggot who huffs his own farts. It's that simple.
Total pseud death.

But it has more to say than just enjoying the funny faces and cute girls noises. Aria has meaningful messages about the passage of time, growing up, moving on in life, farewells, overcoming grief, accepting change, and valuing connections. There's much more to be extracted from it if you're willing to accept what it's trying to say instead of being a braindead zombie just watching it for the moe.

jesus christ. you might actually be braindead or underage. read a book, watch more anime, watch more movies.
what does any of that matter? who gives a fuck? watch the shit, take from it what you will and move on. why are you seeking validation from others? who cares if your taste is mocked or praised.
