Really pretty Mei, Hori should pair up with a writer for his next work.
I don't say this for Hori's capabilities as a writer(he's mediocre at best but not the worse thing ever seen in WSJ) but mainly for the workload, doing both on weekly basis basically killed him.
If he could focus only on the art, it would improve the quality and even with an average writer something good could come out.

Honestly, Sukuna´s completely one track mind in sheer assholery for the sake of it was a breath of fresh air but got kinda stale later on due to his sheer author mandated wankery by the end. Makina was hot and mysterious. And Shigaraki was a manchild, who the story made clear was supposed to grow through the series and it kinda ruined him by the end. Atleast that´s how I feel.

This doesn't exist, you have to settle for usually 1 of those and very rarely 2 but never 3. The closest example of all 3 that I can think of is Versus. Written by the best shounen writer in Japan (ONE), very decent artist, and it's all about fighting.

I don't give a fuck about JJK's fights for three reasons: 1) Gege's art is too messy, 2) he relies a lot in exposition 3) the fighters aren't very interesting characters (if they die, lose, win or live I don't care).

CSM's writing is mostly shock value. The author seems incapable of thinking about character development that doesn't involve killing off other characters.

Horikoshi has great technique, he can blend the cartoonish and the realistic like no one else, but when it comes to battles he really lacks flow.

No, the characters serve the author.
The author writes what the characters will do and controls what they're going to do and how they'll do it.
The 'how' is purely arbitrary. Complex systems exist because they're fun to make in the same way that playing a Paradox game or Civilization is fun. Its an autist black hole time sink.
They give an illusion of rigor to an audience that is overly credulous and who forget that they're reading a work of fiction and not a physics textbook.
