my problem with battle shounen slop is the fact that the non-shit series have interesting premises and nice character dynamics, but if they run long enough, both of those will be cast aside in order to streamline it and make it easier for the mangaka to make because making a weekly series is a lot of work. this usually happens between chapters 50-100, which isn't a surprise, that's a year or two of weekly releases
so battle shounen series can start out as non-slop and genuinely good series, but as time goes on the initial hook becomes less important and despite the cast of characters inflating, they interact less, and all the storytelling is done through an endless stream of fights, because that's easier to do. it probably doesn't help that most mangaka care more about the art than the story, so when they feel the pressure build up they cut corners on the story. no idea why having a dedicated author isn't more common

Why do none of you manchildren have a genuine bone in your body? Shounen isn't even a genre, you only read the same battle shounen's and make them out to be your entire identity. You can't even spare the projection on other people when they tell you to diversify exposure and understanding of the medium. Keep playing around with kids in the playground I guess.

The whole reason I pivoted to shonen slop was because it was less sloppy than haremshit, which just transmogrified into isekai haremshit. I refuse to go back.
Some Isekai are good I just don't want the usual harem bullshit where every girl is just an archetype (girl with animal ears, girl with glasses, girl but brown, girl but tsundere and punches MC a lot while calling him a b-b-b-baka, etc) to be won over by cookie cutter MC-kun. It was fine the first 20 times, but unfortunately the 21st was Infinite Stratos and that show embittered me to anything with harem elements where MC doesn't either nut up and pick a bitch or just hook up with all of them.
