Should L have won?
L dies in episode 25, and the final 12 episode story arc is dedicated to Light being pursued by Near. Was L's death and Near's introduction a good thing, or should L have been the one to defeat Light. I personally like Near, but think the final story arc was a bit too long and convoluted. The anime could easily have been 10 episodes shorter.

We will never know. The author wanted the story to end with L's death, but was forced to continue so the big companies can get their shekels.
