The way they rapresented the last days of Ruby are very realistic, especially if we are talking of people not put in sedation or things like

In the weeks\days before death

1. They are going to start to sleep a lot and when they are awake they are going to be aggressive, confused, maybe they are going also to insult people around but in a not lucid way
2. The couple of days before they are going to die they state will go "better" they are going to talk with you with lucid mind, regain a little strenght, sometimes they eat something too, its the famous improvement of the condition just before death
3. In this last phase usually, they have moments of allucination when they see "something" usually a long dead relative or a dead person of their past, and they talk to you like its there, usually not even 24 years after the person die. This is another famous phenomenon.

No one know clearly the brain give this play, but the episode of Anne teach us an important thing: don't waste occasions to stay with your beloved ones, read the signs, and remember to understand the ill person especially during phase 1 when they are going to be aggressive against you.

Not really. It does have a few of those in places where it's appropriate, but most of it is still comprised of dialogue scenes. It's just not nearly as compressed as the current anime. The first episode of Anne Shirley covers the events of the first five episodes of Akage no An. There's a lot of the book that fully makes it on screen in 1979 but was trimmed for time in 2025.
