I sincerely hope for Tsucc to succeed and finish this manga. No rush, but Made In Abyss is legit the only series I'm emotionally invested in outside of One Piece. I want to know how this story goes. I hope for Tsukushi to stay happy and healthy and for world affairs to remain such that he can continue working and streaming. When WWIII seems like it's about to break out, I LEGIT think "Oh man, I hope I get to finish Made In Abyss before everything goes up in flame." That's not even a joke. I make smarter decisions because I want to live to see this story end. The art, Kevin Penkin's music, the characters, the story, and even and especially the weird parts-it is the most emotionally compelling series for me IN DECADES, it's a series where I actually LIKE both the manga and the anime and think it was adapted well, and it's the series that reinvigorated my actual passion for anime and manga. There have been like 5 actually-good series in the past decade and Made In Abyss is arguably at the top. I'd personally put it there, it is my FAVORITE.

What's more, there are the wish-granting eggs bound up in the same story arc, and the fetuses are eaten out of eggs. There are no less than two similarities between Riko and co. eatung the fetuses out of the eggs and the Ganja squad eating fetuses that were born from an egg.
As for the scat, the village arc OPENS with Riko and Meinya taking a big shit, then Riko almost lies down next to shit, then Riko eats something weird and gets diarrhea from it, then Riko has a flashback to Jiruo being like "Hey, drink water when you get diarrhea, dysentary actually kills cave raiders," then we get a whole flashback arc in which dehydration and diarrhea are PIVOTAL in deciding the fate of the ganja squad, in causing the village to come into being, and in transforming everyone. Tsuc likes bathroom stuff enough that maybe that would be a looser connection than the baby-eating thing, but there are so many parallels, and Jiruo's "hey, this might happen" is SO on-the-nose, that it doesn't feel like coincidence.
Tsukushi included mirrored elements between the flashback and what happens in the present. To say that it's coincidence, or that it's nothing to read into, would be silly. If you want to be completely pedantic about this and say that this isn't foreshadowing or the introduction of thematic elements, then please give me the proper literary terminology for whatever this actually is. That classical literature degree clearly isn't giving me any help, so please fill me in on what this is if not foreshadowing.

2. All the things you named as not being themes are at least literary devices, and the parallels that exist between Riko's party and the ganja squadron are purposeful inclusions. If they're not themes, there at least exists some terminology for what they are, and I'd argue that they *are* themes within the context of the village arc.

An example of foreshadowing in that arc is Faputa revealing that Reg was named Reg upon his initial meeting with her, prior to meeting Riko who gave him the same name. We still cannot fully grasp the implications of this yet, but the eventual revelation is being foreshadowed. Riko shitting in the elevator and then shitting after eating spoiled food did not foreshadow that the members of Ganja would also eventually shit themsleves due to extraordinary circumstances. But once again there are similarities in both circumstance and imagery. Survival and dysentery are topics Tsukushi is fond of.

The fights on MIA are much less theatrical and much more grounded than in shonen. The violence is too consequential and lasting. It's like one of those stupid JRPG's where one monster smacking you once takes away like a solid third of your health. Nobody flexes, there's no trading blows, and violence isn't a chest-beating ritual. It's about survival. Nobody is above setting traps or using weapons, the smart thing to do is to use the environment to your advantage, and fights can be over in seconds.
People are saying MIA isn't shonen because of the TONE of the violence. It's not glorified or used to flex. Sure, there are "whoa" moments, but the violence feels more realistic and grave than "check this shit out."
It's little things, too, like how Reg and Riko are allowed to look scared even when firing a winning shot. The violence just feels too... Serious, to be shonen.

Simply put, shounen action is meant to be cool and fill you with adrenaline, while seinen action is meant to fill you with fear and dread. There's a real threat of death that just isn't there in shounen. In shounen, you expect to see the protagonist unlock some new people.
