Where has all the passion for anime gone?

It lost its magic once they stopped airing loli/hebe nipples.

There sure are a lot of jaded people on /a/ these days. I'm glad I've always been into manga. If I'd just stuck with anime maybe I'd be one of the people constantly making these kinds of threads.

Originals used to be backed by the TV networks that would air them. Filling the void
in money is adaptations which have been mistaken as needing to be direct copies of one another. Because the money hinges
on the purpose of promoting the adapted material there's little freedom. What passion can there
be when you're not allowed to changes where anime specializes and where what it is adapted from would not sail smoothly?

Related to the change in where money comes from and a consequence of many animation companies merging or going out of business they are corporatized too. The product is made to first and foremost appease a corporate board. It is rare for stockholders to know anything much less care about the things the company makes in corporate.

I'd argue it lost a lot of its magic/passion with the rise of LN slop adaptions. The interest isn't there anymore and the companies aren't s interested in greenlighting the passion projects or the unique/different things that let them shine.

Meanwhile /a/ fellates every other adaptation for being better than the manga, which they consider garbage. Also what's the last original anime you watched? Surely if originals are the soul of anime you don't just ignore them and then complain about no originals right?

It isn't just that LNs are a problem, there's good adaptations of LNs. The problem is the rise in popularity of low effort LNs with long ass gimmicky titles that usually involve isekai, wish fulfillment, or both.

The jaded people don't actually watch anime. For the most part they just go to /v/ and then come here whenever they're banned.
That's why, if this thread were quizzed on "favourite anime", it'd inevitably be a bunch of shows with English dubs that aired on American TV.

Anyways, gatekeeping is a delusion held up by children and people mistake what that means.
You can gatekeep a community, yeah. Best way to do that is paywalling, but you can also just be obnoxious assholes.
But "anime" isn't a community. It's a product, marketed by who I presume are serious businessmen who want money.

I don't know what to tell you fucking jerks. The entire reason I got into anime in the first place in the late 2000s was because it WASN'T LIKE AMERICAN MEDIA. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT. Now, ever since 2015, the industry is very clearly aiming for an American audience and the content has suffered heavily for it.

I don't fucking like Lord of the Rings or superheroes or American gun-shoot movies. I don't want to see Twitter memes or zoomerspeak in my fictional escapist cartoons. I don't want to see poorly-designed characters, poorly-written plots, and poorly-constructed slop meant for dumping on streaming services. Why in the world would you want any of that shit in your foreign media? If you did, why not just watch American media? Because anime artists draw the eyes a little differently? Come on.

I liked Japanese anime. Shame they don't make it anymore, and haven't a decade. I blame all of you.
