Well /a/ what are you waiting for? You think you can write better than Japanese authors right?
The "MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 - THE ISEKAI presented by KADOKAWA" is more than just a writing competition—it's a global search for the next big Isekai hit. KADOKAWA, one of Japan's most influential publishers, is teaming up with MyAnimeList and Honeyfeed to discover fresh talent who can craft stories with the potential to stand alongside industry-defining titles like Overlord, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Sword Art Online. As an added bonus, this year's contest features a special guest in the jury panel: Aneko Yusagi, writer of The Rising of the Shield Hero. >Grand Prize novel will be scheduled for publication by KADOKAWA
Let me guess, this is like the manga awards where nobody ever wins the grand prize guaranteeing direct serialization.

>listing SAO as "fantasy isekai"
Trash.
>listing isekai examples of which most would not satisfy the "aspirational and empathizable" protagonist condition
Trash.
>listing isekai example of which all characterized as "long-running" but the participants are expected to write a very short story within a month or so
Trash.
>including an overly vague clause about forbidding inspiration despite isekai explicitly only being a big thing because of its starter template nature
Trash.

This contest is a huge farce.

not a blind contest of merit - this is more like "monetize an online novel that already has a following"
