Weird. I can't find any bad villains by that name.

Kabuto is identity crisis and Stockholm syndrome the character, which is why he copies Orochimaru. So he's nothing like Orochimaru, who is just an evil autist/sociopath, and a boy-molesting fruit.

It*chifujos will never understand this character.
He is actually better villain then orochhimaru.

He was better when he was just that unexplored guy who occasionally appeared and wreaked havoc. When Gege made him the main antagonist, he just choked under it. I rate him a 6.

he's better than Oro, his only problem was Solo King

The fanon version of Itachi (evil pedo yandere variant obsessed with Sasuke as written by fujos) is better than the canon one, and it's not even close.

How so? I love Kabuto, but he's a big dork. It's literally why he's so fun. He looks unassuming, his main skills are healing, blending in, and sucking up to the boss, and they match his personality, but he's strong. Or more like, he's good at surviving getting ragdolled thanks to his medical jutsu, and when he's fighting someone it's typically some poor lady who has no chance of winning or putting up a good fight cause lol Naruto. He sure beats up tons of women. Then he heals them apropos of nothing? When he becomes a proper villain he starts looking more like Oro and grows out a massive, grotesque anaconda dong, but his personality never really changes. In fact, he officially becomes a momma's boy. It's hilarious.

Oro from part 1 was way more menacing than Kabuto. Even when he's being silly, he's somehow scarier.

His backstory with the orphanage was trash. Another interesting character ruined because shippuden was too pussy to make a single actually bad villian.

well, the thing about Kabuto is that he isn't menacing, he's pathetic

Naraku.
I don't know how I lasted until episode 100 of Inuyasha, but when he ran away then I decided to listen to myself and dropped it then and there.

Before the anaconda dong makeover Kabuto was one of the very few ninja adjacent ninjas, in this shounen about ninjas. Like his main things are smarts and stealth. So I think that's neat

He was decently intimidating during his confrontation with Kakashi and the implication of him being able to deceive a former ace ANBU operative with his dead body fake out was a pretty good setup to there being more than meets the eye with him.
Kabuto was implied to be hyper-competent but not "special" enough for Orochimaru to consider him a viable heir. Orochimaru doesn't necessarily want trained talent, but inborn talent that he can subsume into himself. Kabuto an orphan without anything unique to him, but his trained skills and talent for medical ninjutsu both offensive and defensive are superb. He also offered a foil to Naruto during the mid stage of the chunin exam that unfortunately had little payoff because he sort of just became dismissive of the kid after they next met alongside the sannin.
Kabuto had room to grow as a character, but he felt stifled by the pace of the story up until he had to step to be one of the main villains.

I think he means funny valentine from Steel Ball Run, which is weird because he tends to be regarded as one of the best main villains of the series.
I DO think Jojo masters the "Villain is wasted potential" so much to the point of being annoying, Diavolo and Tooru are clear examples

He could go toe to toe against Kakashi in part 1 and Tsunade acknowledges how talented he is in comparison to her youth. That's not pathetic.
He was also winning against team Yamato in part 2 until he freed Sai who then backstabbed him

>and Tsunade acknowledges how talented he is in comparison to her youth.
I thought we were talking about his personality/aura, not his skills. Tsunade was all sorts of pathetic during her fight with Kabuto, so the bar is in hell.

>He was also winning against team Yamato in part 2 until he freed Sai who then backstabbed him
Like on the bridge?
Was he fighting them at all? I remember a lot of yapping, then Orochimaru shows up and they start shittalking Sasori together, then Kabuto gets punted real hard by 9 tails and ends up in the bushes at the end of the bridge lol
Then Kabuto heals Sakura (she jobbed to the power of love, and the bridge, don't remember which one first) because...he just does ok? And then there's more banter with Orochimaru, this time about blood types, scrolls, and Kabuto being anal-retentive. Don't recall any fighting. Oh yeah, I guess he tackled Sai at one point cause Sai was looking at Orochimaru funny (he wasn't really.) And he slashed off the head of Yamato's puppet disguise with chakra scalpel at one point. And he prepared a decoy corpse. He also got captured by team Yamato (off-panel, I think?) and forgot important files in Sai's room. That's the extent of Kabuto's contribution to that arc, I guess. It was pretty funny, not very menacing.

Outside Orochimaru's hideout. When Sai is tied up.

He tossed a bunch of shurikens at them to free Sai, kicked one of Naruto's clones, then he was instantly captured by Sai. Idk if you can call this winning, in any case, it wasn't very impressive.

>He was decently intimidating during his confrontation with Kakashi and the implication of him being able to deceive a former ace ANBU operative with his dead body fake out was a pretty good setup to there being more than meets the eye with him.
Yeah. It was also pretty cool how fast he got over Tsunade's jutsu that messed up the signals in his brain and kicked her ass. But he was still just Orochimaru's minion, and it was obvious from the start that he's nowhere near as ruthless or insane as Oro. Kabuto is simply less intimidating, and it didn't really change after he injected Oro's cells into his bloodstream. Even his creepy snake faces and body modifications are less creepy than the og snake's.

>Kabuto was implied to be hyper-competent but not "special" enough for Orochimaru to consider him a viable heir.
His body wasn't special enough to become possessed by Oro, but he was Oro's actual heir before Mitsuki and Log were created. Orochimaru praised Kabuto's intelligence and medical jutsu a lot (there's also picrel, not sure what to make of it.) He gave Kabuto the hideout with the lab right off the bat when Kabuto was like 12, while treating his other minions like shit. He changed his life philosophy partly because Kabuto surpassed him and then still jobbed to Sasuke and Itachi. Kabuto was Orochimaru's right-hand man, which, in a way, makes him more special than Sasuke, who was meant to be Orochimaru's umpteenth vessel. But none of that changes the fact that Kabuto is straight up goofy more often than not, and he doesn't have Orochimaru's creepy aura.
