I figured that was just a coincidence that it Smiley's fruit just happened to spawn there, but ACTUALLY it was so the manga/anime could show how it happens for once.

When Burgess was hunting devil fruits in Dressrosa he had a big bag on his shoulder and I had always assumed he just had one of each of like 50 fruits so that he could kill someone and hope that their fruit would spawn on one of the ones in his bag. It hasn't been shown since then so it's just a theory I'm still holding onto.

What I dislike about Oden is that no one acknowlegdes that he's a self centered dick most of the time. When push comes to shove he does the right thing so I can see why in universe people like him but at least show them acknowledging that aspect of him too. That's what feels so jarring. If Kin had at least one scene lamenting how Oden doomed them but idk, he still loves him for being their only hope or for all the good he did at other times. Imo that would add a lot.

We know that the poneglyph on Zou hasn't moved, we're about to learn that kaido's poneglyph in wano never moved either, we've got no backstory on Big Mom's poneglyph, we've got no information on what happened to the fishman island poneglyph as far as I know, and we only know about the fourth poneglyph that its location is unknown and that it's held by the burnscar-guy most likely. I'm not aware if there's anything confirming that the lost poneglyph is the one from fishman island.

The flashback would be infinitely better if Oda properly followed the rule of 'show don't tell'. Oden is cool when hes talking or doing things, whats not cool is the speedran backstory and shoving him into every adventure through the entire series while every background character faints and swoons. If you cut out the intro scene of his dad going through his backstory and all the fodder character reactions, Oden would be pretty popular here.
