naruto is the only anime I know where there should be good fan manga/fic about it given it's world is literal aesthetic kino, yet all the fan works are just "what if minto was still alive" or some other boring shit instead of just making an oc that travels the world or something instead
Might be an unpopular opinion, but most anime and manga that get picked up have a better premise than execution.

Wano is a place, the guy you're talking about is Oden
How much power did the kages really have? It's implied that daimyos were the true leaders of each country, to the point that they chose the kages for their respective hidden village (AKA military factory), and even managed their budget and taxes.
But despite that, the story revolves around kages, depicted as way more influential than the daimyos. Hell, I'm pretty sure that kages can declare war to another country themselves, aside from managing everything inside their village. At that point, it makes little to no sense that the daimyos exist, considering the influence and military power (basically the entire power of each country) of kages.

It's a really good plot with literal 11/10 worldbuilding for a setting so fascinating that it shouldn't be confined to such a simple story. Every time the story deviates just a bit from the Cool Kids Crew into some other character's interactions with the world, my neurons begin to fire again and I'm stuck re-reading most of the manga to see micro-details I've missed.

Ninjas got cash by doing missions which they gave back to the village, meaning that without being mercenaries the villages wouldnt survive.

rare Kishimoto W is that Naruto is the only anime with a shounen with a school that actually uses it right
>only exists for exposition
>only ever used when relevant to the plot
>only really used/shows up like 3 times in canon
>immediately abandoned when no longer useful for the plot
if only he could've used this forsight into literally anything else in the story

I think if we disregard the whole village being separate from country part(which I think we can since Kishimoto himself stopped giving a shit early on), it's much closer to elective monarchies in that regard. The feudal lords choose the next leader, but once they're there they call the shots, especially on military matters.
>tfw the whole ninja world is completely centered around the military industrial complex, with wars being absolutely necessary for it to exist, to the point of artificially creating conflicts
What did Kishimoto mean by this?

It's literally justified in universe though. It's basically an intentional show of power that replaces war in determining which country is currently the strongest.
It doesn't really matter that young ninjas expose their techniques anyways, if they can't make new ones or exploit the fact people are aware of them then they're just not good enough.

The reason 99% of people write fanfic is for characters and to alleviate a frustration they had with their canon development. If you have the motivation to write the journey of your OC there's really zero reason not to make it original work with an original setting. The world building of Naruto isn't that good anyways, we don't even know the names of the daimyos the ninjas swore fealty to.

I always felt the world building was secondary to everything else going on in this mess of a story. I mean they just kind of did what ever they wanted for the other villages after Konoha. Its a fun fantasy world but none of it feels grounded in the slightest. Good variety.

>the Kozuki clan oppressed the Kurozumi clan for generations
>the fact that the Kozuki clan oppressed the Kurozumi clan
this part isn't canon. Kurozumi dude assassinated every other daimyo in order to try and become the new shogun, but his scheme was discovered so he had to commit seppuku because of it and his clan was stripped of their position and castle. The general populace of Wano treated the Kurozumi as shit following their clan leader's assassination prank, but the Kozukis themselves didn't actually do anything else to the rest of the clan after having demoted them to normies. In fact, Orochi was only able to accomplish his own coup attempt because the Kozukis did not care to discriminate him for his Kurozumi heritage. If the Kozukis themselves had actually been oppressive against Kurozumis (instead of helpful to an irrational degree), then Orochi's whole plan would ironically have failed.

Dandadan. The actual plot/writing is mostly about teenagers being awkward, which is something that gets old when you're no longer a teenager yourself. Things like the main couple obviously being a couple to anyone in-universe, but not just outright saying it, or saying it but it doesn't count. Shit like that gets old. But the world building is about aliens trying to invade the Earth and being unable to because the planet is haunted, where the mix of things like yokai interacting with hollow earth subterraneans, or aliens abducting humans for reproduction while studying supernatural powers end up being more interesting than learning about the sad backstory of this week's random teenager.

Because the details are vague and you fill it in with whatever you want. As soon as you actually try to have some sort of prequel showing what happened, most times it goes to shit. Most famous example being the Star Wars prequels. The actual prequel is rarely as good as the prequel in your head.

uh, no? The world building of Naruto is really bare bones. From what I remember the Naruto world is pretty much just the Harry Potter universe but the Muggle/Wizard divide is never mentioned. At least in Harry Potter, the wizard world is hidden by magic or something. In Naruto the ninja villages are supposedly impossible to find/reach by normal people, but there is never any explanation as to why a non ninja wouldn't stumble upon one of the villages.

The issue there is that you stop telling a story about 'Naruto' and start telling basically an original story in a setting that vaguely resembles Naruto.
Which means that people reading fanfiction aren't going to be all that interested in it. As they're not looking for original works, but remixes of the canon.

It also doesn't make sense that ninja villages are subservient to daimyo power where people like Hashirama were invincible gods so powerful that they gifted nukes to the other villages as a self-deterrent to his own village of overpowered ninja freaks.
Why the fuck did Hashirama obey the daimyo and then cry that "war is bad 'cause it kills children" if you could reduce every daimyo city into dust?

Early Naruto wasn't written by Kishimoto, most of it was by his editor Yahagi, who let Kishimoto by himself about halfway the Chuunin Exam arc.
