Nah, Akira genuinely adds depth to Sora's route. Without having gone through her route a lot of her behavior would be fucking weird. At the very least hers is essential for a first playthrough since it covers all the broad strokes of her story, Sora's personality, most of Kazuha's route (though this one also explains more about Akira a bit). Nao arguably adds depth to Sora's story as well, but ehhhhhhh. Motoka is good because somehow she manages to create the second most stable and happy environment for Sora and Haru by the end of the route (though Sora hates her most of the route).
Multiple heroines are good actually, though how much use you get out of the alternative perspectives depends on the author's writing chops a LOT.
