Initially, I got it. She was his oneitis, which can be a big thing when you are 14. I remember mine and how long it took to get over it and how painful it was at the time. Obviously retarded in retrospect, but it was real back then. I haven't really 'loved' in that way since then. And his died in front of his eyes, he held her corpse, and was then manipulated by Madara. And he was Uchiha, which made these feelings more intense. But he is like... 30 by Shippuden.

To be fair even though the way he initially worded it was trash ("Because you let Rin die!") his reasoning was a lot more solid if you look at what came later. The idea is that there are no winners without losers and this world was built on suffering, Rin was just one instance of the cruel fabric of reality doing its thing.

I mean he was still young and this situation (combined with others) shaped his worldview. You can also think of him as naive in a sense. What I don't understand is how Madara, a seemingly far more mature character, fell for an idea as stupid as infinite tsukoyomi
