Naruto is proof that some anime adaptations deserve a remake.

Over half of all Naruto episodes are filler, and a lot of that filler is the kind that's mixed in with canon bits of story so if you skip them you will missing canon info from the story. This is unacceptable.

I agree, but in moderation. SOME filler is fun, especially when it fleshes out character dynamics and addresses scenarios you would have expected to have come up at some point in the mainline material. Naruto actually has some decent filler material on par or better than some of the main story. The problem comes when filler fucks the pacing of a tight arc or pads out a segment of the story when tensions should be higher.
If you cut out half of the Part 1 filler arcs you'd actually have a decent show because it gave more of the cast a chance to shine.

I don't mind non-canon material. In fact I really like the Naruto films (not The Last, I mean stuff like Land of Snow) and enjoyed the post-Retrieval part 1 filler to some extent, as I did have fun with ealry part 2 filler and the Sanbi one.
But the anime is just so poorly paced it's honestly unwatchable. There are the filler arcs where nothing of consequence can happen because it'd affect the main plot, but even the canon material is extremely slow. There are anime-only sequences, slow dialogues, slow fight scenes, slow flashbacks, entire episodes were nothing happens. Not only it consumes your time but the perception of the watches is altered completely in relation to the manga experience. Just take a look at the daily thread and see people who are reading the manga for the first time notice obvious things in the story that went over their heads. Sasuke's part 1 character progression makes more sense when you read the manga, for example.

The pacing, the changes in the fights and some questionable directing choices make the anime a much, much inferior experience to the manga. Part 1 at least had a good OST, but even that Pierrot took away from us post-timeskip.

Naruto manga needs a remake. Shippuden to be exact. Right from the start of it, it was bad. Kishi's writing, character development, story choices and ending really leave a lot to be desired. His pacing is also shit. Could have been amazing but eh.

I dunno if I'd use Naruto to make that point. Plenty of worse adaptations out there. There's stuff like the first season of Blue Exorcist that was like 70% filler (within 24 episodes mind you) and took a fat shit on the story. Or the Aku no Hana adaptation that completely murdered visual presentation in favor of some artsy fartsy bullshit that no one wanted, making for some of the ugliest piece of "animation" ever and tanking its popularity into fucking hell. Now that's some anime I'd give a do-over. Not fucking Naruto. At least Naruto was adapted to the end and had good animation (for the most part).

If it comes out of nowhere mid arc and has characters doing cringe shit when they on the verge of some serious stuff it’s unforgivable
Like an onsen episode randomly mid season that’s so out of place it could have literally been slotted in anywhere

Naruto doesn't deserve a remake. It's trash. Like a lot of shonen battle series, it gets worse the longer it goes on and it has to escalate. Hell, the whole ending is extra fucked up because it was written specifically to help lead into the plot of Boruto. The story is so fucking bad, the characters are so mistreated, that it's just bad.

I would rather watch those dozens of episodes of filler from the original series again than watch post timeskip Naruto again just because another studio did it in potentially higher quality. At least that non-canon stalling for time let the other characters have some fun, and explored some neat concepts from time to time.

Technically, how we ended up with all this extra One Piece is that, like a lot of other long-running series, it had to slow itself down or stall because the series is still ongoing.

A remake of One Piece might actually do it some good, but One Piece is STILL ongoing. We're approaching the end probably around the end of the decade, Oda is yet to stick the landing, and I am regularly finding myself unsure of whether he's going to make it or not. It will be a fucking sham if One Piece ends poorly after they start doing an anime remake.

Filler shouldn't be approached as this absolute negative thing. Some of the greatest fights in anime adapted from manga have filler moments to make them great.

i gave up on both bleach and naruto when they started the filler arcs. that was me when i was still a teenager lapping every bit of anime i could and i still thought the filler was extremely low quality
