I fully believe that Hori had a Dad For One twist in the works early manga but later dropped it as he kept changing things running from cancellation. A lot of things were changed as the manga went on.

Also I forgot that hero was in fact a woman. Hori really does have a thing for shitting on female characters it's hard to ignore.
