They're trying too hard to force Fujimoto as some kind of legendary auteur.
The whole point of this shit is to try and build a cult of personality around his works so people gather around simply because they hear he was attached to it.

The issue is that adaptations of his stuff doesn't really do all that exceptionally, if not just poorly.
And his actual current work is in a deathspiral where people don't even read it anymore.

It really isn't anything new.
Miyazaki was one for Ghibli, that just turned out to succeed and he was almost as good as they hyped him up to be.
Marmoru Oshii is an example of one that was successful despite him not actually having much to do with the works his name was attached to. He's given credit for stuff like the animation on Ghost in the Shell looking so beautiful, when he actually didn't oversee that part of the production. Or he's often given credit for Jin-Roh, because he came up with the world for the setting, while everything on the actual film was handled by other people.

It's absolutely insanity for Fujimoto to become such a highly respected and critically acclaimed writer to the point even the most trivial works he put out are getting an adaptation considering how absolutely terrible in every possible aspect Csm part2 currently is.
He definitely got the pseud elitist crowd in his pocket with his two one shots but other than that I don't know you could consider Fujimoto an excellent writer from his limited output, both csm and fire punch aren't making unanimity.

I think he might be extremely beloved by nips for his nihilistic artstyle and chaotic storytelling that are really in line with current Reiwa era zeitgeist but it's insane how much adaptations a single author like him is getting in such short span.

Junji Ito's works are difficult to adapt due to their realistic and detailed art style, and it's not easy to do horror right in animation. Horror anime also tend to be somewhat unpopular, and therefore risky to pick up for animation studios.

Fujimoto's one-shots, on the other hand, are short and not too hard to animate besides Chainsaw Man and Fire Punch (which is why it still doesn't have an adaptation).

I cannot even deny that this is true in some sense considering shit like Drama Queen are so obviously Fujimbo inspired it almost feels like plagiarism in a way.
However unlike Fujimoto, Devilman is a masterpiece and on top of that Nagai made Cutie Honey or getter robo which are all immense influence on the entire medium.
Fujimoto has made 2 manga, one of which is extremely divisive and still not adapted in anime and the other that is currently abysmal garbage, despite the 1st part being excellent and one of my favorite it isn't as critically acclaimed as his one shots.
He really has become manga's Kojima because I almost feel like people are attributing spyxfamily, jigokuraku or dandadan quality to him somehow.

Honestly, if the CSM S1 staff (Nakayama included) had adapted Fire Punch, it would’ve been pure kino.
