Whale mermaid Cero incoming? And doesn't this mean that the only difference between humans and monsters is exposure to the ur-monsters? Like Mugu and Hasura and these seal demons are just regular animals (or descendants thereof) that have been transformed by the special friends the same way Rabi was a normal human transformed by Alfur and the villagers were transformed by Flute?
And Oki was able to make the special friends human-like. Wouldn't that mean she's the same sort of thing as them? Or an even higher version since she's able to do it to special friends and not just regular animals and humans.

So this is indeed the place where Alfur had Oki's body in crystals. I have to agree this does seem like fast pacing. Although if things pick up and it doesn't get axed, it could always shift to Dark Oki as the antagonist.

I expected the city to be on Jessi's back, considering this page.

Also, I'm not yet convinced this is speedrunning. Introducing so many of the friends suddenly could just be setting up the factions and drawing the heroes into the ongoing conflict. Alfur and Jessi are one team, Hona and Oz are the other, Dron and Flute were apparently just left out of the loop for some reason, and maybe Dalph and Tyren are undecided or something. It'll depend on how this arc ends, I think.

Dron is against resurrection by default and he couldn't be much help if he somehow changed his mind. Flute was, uh, let's call her low functioning, and she never left her village. You'd also have fight off the villagers just to talk to her. Alfur had good reasons for not enlisting either of them.

Dron is pretty much on the same side as Hona and Oz. None of them wanted Alfur getting Oki's soul and resurrecting her. Dron just can't spend too much time in the realm of the living, so he can't get as directly involved.

Wasn't Cero with Oki? You'd think she'd have noticed Oz showing up. I wonder if that panel of her next to Oki's bed was some kind of astral projection thing or viewing her memories through her soul.
It could also just be that Oz took Oki's soul and ran because she knew/suspected that Alfur would be coming and didn't have time to wait around for Dron.

We don't know what Oz's animal form is but several anons have assumed it's something small and unobtrusive. Once Oki noticed her she could have sent Cero out of the room on some pretext. One way or another, Oz was able to collect Oki's soul even though various humans were supervising her body the whole time.

Knowing a bit more about how monsters work, I bet whoever broke up Dron's old religion was doing it to try and keep humans from becoming monsters. It might have even been a more ideological desire to keep life as a whole differentiated instead of everything getting jumbled up into monster soup.
If so, Oki is probably the exact opposite. She is/was probably trying to erode the barriers between monsters and humans so that there would eventually be no difference. But instead of the one sided affair of humans becoming more bestial like the special friends they worshiped, she was getting the special friends to become more human.
