AveMujica is the Oniisama e of band animu.
A lot of people forget this, but aside from two or three specific moments, nobody was actually laughing before episode 8 (I'm not counting the fun of the threads for this). I do think that after the Crychic reunion, which is when the series becomes more "bombastic", it starts having more dry comedic moments, like Umiri's sperg outs, the "we were all united", Sakiko's "resolution" in episode 12, and a few other things here and there. The series does balance the serious, the comedic, and the exhausting moments pretty well if you ask me.
Furthermore, some other people say the comedy was unintentional, but going by how said comedic moments played out, and if you were to ask me, it's impossible for them to be unintentional, especially so after one of the interviews (which I don't have at hand, btw) hinted a bit into the comedic aspects of the series. The only moment I could say it was "unintentional comedy" was the scene where Uika pushes Mutsumi down the stairs, but I would say that one has more to do with the animation which wasn't able to portray the weight of the scene. Either that or Uika should have just pushed down Tomori instead of Mutsumi.

The story is that the members of Ave Mujica are trapped in a dream world by Morpheus, the Goddess of Dreams.
