Frieren learned how the gold transmutation works, Match gold is said to be indestructible.
all Frieren had to do is transmutate clothes and chainmails to gold. And there you have, invencible armor.

How are either of these plotholes? That would imply the plot hinges on something related to them.

Scales are a catalyst for Auras spell, not the spell itself. Frieren can counter the gold magic it's never said she can replicate it. It's mentioned that the demon generals have magic too complex for her.

neither Serie nor Frieren can cast Aura's spell.
Frieren can't cast Diagoldze, just reverse the effects. My pet theory is that Serie analyzed the spell and knows how it works.
Pet theory number 2: Serie will be attacked by curse magic, and she hasn't the curse reversal spell anymore (gave it to Denken).
