The yuri in the manga used to be ambiguous such that anyone from all walks of life could enjoy it. Like you could kinda view Ayano's feelings for Kyouko as admiration or wanting to be close friends. Men and heterosexuality were also seen in the background as normal stuff, like when Chinatsu saw the couples around her and wondered whether her feelings for Yui wasn't normal, or when they went to see what were definitely hetero romance films at the cinema.
Now it's a bit more explicitly gay and men are no longer shown on panel, though it's still funny and enjoyable to everyone.
