This is the part of school romcoms I will never be able to understand. I just don't know how someone can not be good at tests after studying for it. I was always in the 99th percentile on every standardized test in schooling. All you have to do is read the material and then answer the questions right. Like tests aren't trying to trick you or something. If you know how the math actually works you should get it right every time, same for any other subject. I can't comprehend the state of being that involved being unable to do that, so it's hard to appreciate this as a drama point. How do you actually read what you need to do, then not be able to do it? I only ever did poorly when I was too lazy/bored to even bother learning the material.

I’d absolutely love to see all of them pass and spend a chapter on celebrations but I don’t think that would make for a compelling plot development. Someone will fail and it may very well be Ichikawa. What I don’t want is for him to fail and then slip back into his depression or lash out at Yamada when she tries to comfort him. I could see him taking it well but I could also see that being an unreasonable amount of maturity to expect from a middle schooler.
I don’t know. Seeing his fate still so uncertain despite the nonstop preparations has me anxious.
