I watched the first season of that cosplay show, and it was so fucking bad. The story was supposed to be about two people from completely different backgrounds becoming friends, and it, of course, turned out to be another ecchi slop. The first few episodes were solid.

It has a different director this season because the Gintsms guy is working on a new Samurai Troopers anime and it really shows. The anime has gone from high energy sketches in previous seasons to comfy sitcom episodes with the occasional bad sketch. There have been some good episodes but for the most part it's been boring This week's episode was particularly ass and did the worst sketch I've ever seen 3 times in a row.

The scale of this is too unbalanced. If only 5/5 count as positive, then 1/5 should have the function of a counter-weight in some form, e.g. counting 1/5 votes like two 2/5, 3/5 or 4/5 votes. Otherwise extremely polarizing series are favored too much wherein people vote 5/5 just to "balance" the 1/5 votes out of sheer tribalism even though they would have normally only voted 4/5.
So if 1/5 are counted more strongly, it penalizes deeply unpopular series and balances out this tribalism.

In Japan, besides TV, there are over 20 streaming services like ABEMA, Amazon Prime, and NicoNico. Among them, dAnime often streams shows later than others, so popular anime are usually already available elsewhere. The #1 and #2 shows on that ranking are streamed the fastest, so it’s no surprise they have tons of views. For the other anime, the ranking isn’t really accurate for the same reason.
