By virtue of the fact that she DID commit these crimes, it's proof that she was sincerely willing to betray all of her friends and comrades and work with the Ursus army to start a war with Yan, if it promised that the Infected would have a place in Ursus at the end of the war. It probably wouldn't have been her first choice, without Kaschey's arts being involved... But it was an option she would have turned to if something else had sufficiently cornered her.!<

So it's not an actual ghost but some series of successors? Still makes me wonder, so far in the plot all the superpowers were because of Originium infection, which is a body thing. So the newly emerged personality would not have the power of a previous "host"

There are plenty of powers that don't require infection or originium crystals. Honestly they should do some of the popular events now that are way better than the main story and explain the setting much better.

Well, Kaschey wasn't the only Kaschey either - we later meet another copy acting as a schoolteacher in a completely different body. Whatever Kaschey does seems to be more than brainwashing, but it's also not plain possession given his limitations and the usage of multiple bodies located considerable distances from one another.

Anonymous No.282056713 >>282061434
I often don't care much for flashbacks, but the two shown over a couple of episodes in this season were really good and saved the entire plot.
I liked how Alina broke character when fear of death took over and made her admit she didn't want to die.
I especially liked how Talulah degenerated into finally betraying her own beliefs and eradicated that village after Alina's death. The dialogue in that part and her train of actions over the course of it felt quite compelling.
Was pure kino.
Almost as good as Geto's breakdown in jjk, and that's up there as being one of the best.

It had its fault, but despite the purple prose and over-convoluted plot threads, it managed to show a few gems here and there. Now, i don't play arknights anymore, but still like to occasionally keep up with it because I'm waiting for Endfields, and really, really enjoy the character designs. As a fan, this could be considered a good game adaptation and is a wholly more favored to what else is out there.

Also, pic related, my favorite two characters, based on their designs.

It's decent. They fucked up certain points (Frostnova's backstory was talked about, but didn't get nearly the kind of emotional emphasis that was necessary considering her role, for example, and really mishandled the implications RI's involvement in the Lungmen operation), but they solidly landed others (Talulah's backstory). They managed to cover everything they needed to, on the other hand, and that's not something you can say of most gacha adaptations.
>>282059794
I don't know if they'll keep going, but you'll definitely have to download the game either way. The next arc has extremely dense politics, like eight different sides involved in a massive civil war with competing factions within each camp, and a bunch of hidden agendas on top of that. I don't know how ANYONE adapts that without losing a ton of important stuff in the process. There's also a bunch of side events that are just as good that you'd want to see.

And MOST Sark Kings have been terrible in one way or another, because of the pressures the Sarkaz people have been under for millennia and their self-destructive culture, as well as their dead ancestors whispering in the back of their minds pushing them to commit atrocities, something that affects their Kings even more keenly. Like, are we going to pretend that Theresa ISN'T part of all that, just because she's nicer about it? She doesn't want to commit genocide like her predecessors - cool. For most everyone else, that's already an expected baseline!
That said, I think you're mistaken about the Nameless thing; plenty of people were already fighting against her in the civil war without undergoing the ritual. I think that was purely cultural rather than having supernatural implications. Given that they chose kill to her in a particularly dishonorable manner, I understand why they wouldn't want to be associated with such a crime against a formerly revered figure.

This is covered in the Babel event, and involves major spoilers - like, Year 6 when you're still in Year 1 level spoilers; Kal'tsit was working with Theresa to solve the Kazdel issue, and they came to the conclusion that curing Originium would give Babel the legitimacy it needed to end the public debate over Sarkaz cooperation with the other races. That project stalled, and Kal'tsit chose to wake the Doctor, her "owner" (it's complicated) and one of the inventors of Originium (it's complicated). This worked out for a while, because Originium wasn't supposed to be torturing people and the Doctor wasn't a complete monster - but as the situation deteriorated, the Doctor concluded the best solution was to just hurry up everyone's crystallization and murder Theresa so as to minimize the number of people who had to die.[/spoilers]

More real than the endings of Cerulean Harbor that were just a simulation, since everything and everyone in Fireside were "real" for the duration of the story, but they still end when the story does - it's not really tapping into persistent alternate realities the same way that, say, Marvel does. Though I could be wrong, Integrated Strategies was always my weakest understanding of Arknights.

Eh... I think it'd be a pretty big narrative problem if the first three episodes ended with a desperate struggle to get out the true story of a massacre of civilians, after terror bombing an entire city with Originium rounds and murdering a renowned poet and then the rest of the season just... Never talked about that, the fallout from it, or anything related to it again. It'd be like if the first season, after Ace's sacrifice and their desperate escape from Chernobog, then jumped over to adapt Invitation to Wine because hey, Lungmen's in Yan so it's still a Yanese story, right?

It worked in the game because it's telling a decently-lengthed self-contained story with decent payoff, and it doesn't matter THAT much whether they call it a "main story" or "side story" - but if you compress it for the anime, it'll just feel weird and out of place unless you make it an OVA instead or something. At least, in my opinion - I'm no producer or showrunner.

No, what Victoria needs is for Caster to remind Vina that her primary duty is to keep taxes low on the Dukes and business leaders, not mucking about with that union rabble. What could she possibly learn from those malcontents after all? With more money for business to invest and more money for the Dukes to buy, it'll be a glorious future for Terra's greatest empire! With the possible exception of the Aegir plotline, Arknights generally tries to stay grounded with its themes, the supernatural and scifi used to add flair. To cite some side events that will most likely never be adapted as examples... The Sui plot is basically "Godchildren are real", but thematically are "So how does this relate to normal humans? What do they do, and how are they preparing for the problems they'll surely cause?" (when it's not talking about themes of family or living for an old promise, or something). The Leithanien plots involve "reviving an ancient evil mage", but the themes involved revolve more around the allure of reclaiming past glories, the struggle for identity in changing times, and doomed love. Kjerag says "God is real and she loves you", but the actual PLOT is "Please, God, stay out of this and let the mortals handle things so that we learn to live without you". The stories have big, impressive supernatural moments as backdrops and climactic points - but they're not really ABOUT flashy powers or supernatural events, those are just used to add spice.

I mean, there are honestly a LOT of characters like that. Vina is the heir to the Aslan throne, guarded by the literal spirit of the kingdom, but raised by a literal street gang after her father was executed; her story is about reconciling the fact that even her former closest friends look to her as this figure of reverence, while she feels like she's just a normal person. The Sui siblings are literal fragments of a god capable of smashing entire countries, struggling to establish their own independent identities amongst a nation that views them with fear. Skadi is a super-soldier made by a weird and creepy government who injected her with the cells of an alien species that's threatening to eat the world; after sending her to kill their source, now she's possessed by its spirit and said aliens look to her as their mother, asking her for their purpose in this world.. And those are just a handful of our recruitable operators. Terra's FILLED with interesting people and complicated backstories; the Doctor has one, sure, but she's just one character amongst many, and it'd be to the detriment of the story if she hogged the spotlight others need.

And besides; the Doctor's backstory makes her a scientist first and foremost - the kind of person you leave back in a lab. When Spectre's grating a Seaborn's face with a pizza cutter, it'd be weirder if the borderline-cripple suddenly claimed the stage.

You're seriously proving my point about being unqualified to discuss media - you seem to believe that they just make up the plot as they go, instead of having designed these characters in advance.

The Doctor cannot be both a teenage girl struggling with the burdens of command placed upon her far too young, and the age-old creature planning their race's last stand. The Doctor cannot be both the foul traitor who betrayed her patron's best hope for the planet's survival, and the young girl who just lost her mother and has to reconcile the fact that the person they trusted most in the world is responsible. The Doctor cannot be both the schemer playing with the fates of nations even today, and the shining idealist who forces ancient cycles of torment to break. The Doctor cannot be both the source of all of Terra's ills and Terra's solutions, and an orphan who came from literal nothing and would have died in the trash without the kindness of strangers.

These are all diametrically opposed roles, and all of them are important to the story Arknights wants to tell. You're frankly a literal retard to think the two can be combined just because they both "started as blank slates in the first episode", and I'm mildly annoyed to have wasted my time explaining why.

Nah, as I am an anime only, I can't speak for future events, but again, from the spoilers in this thread, doc getting the demon king role instead seems like it would still align with his backstory (him being the bearer of the very thing (originium) that set all hell loose) and still fit thematically

Doc has no control over Originium. Even pre amnesia Doc had zero combat power compered to the likes of Theresa. Even half dead she shattered Doctor's mind effectively killing them. That's why you have amnesia in the first place.

He's not 100% immune to originium but he's pretty close to it. This is proven later when I think Shining's brother slashed him with a sword that was guaranteed to infect someone but he was fine

Major spoilers - things you wouldn't learn until, like, Season 6 at the earliest: the Doctor is one of the Precursors who made Originium in the first place; it was made with a lot of safeguards, since it wasn't SUPPOSED to kill or torture anyone. Terrans evolved too late for those safeguards to apply to them, but they still apply to the Doctor. Rhodes Island's suppressants were actually made by examining how her blood works, and the first and most primitive revolved around giving Amiya her blood.

I'm not sure where your unfounded claims of my ability comes from, but
>you seem to believe that they just make up the plot as they go, instead of having designed these characters in advance

just go back to s1 and tell me whether amiya's character has ANY resemblance of that demon king shit or not
besides the ring, they literally just started pulling that shit out of their ass in s3.
the point i'm making is that, she started of just as an empty caricature of a character as doc did, hence why he could've easily replaced her roles as a character.
Amiya's character is literally born at the start of s1, precisely because her backstory doesn't seem to have any relevance or effect on her character at any point in s1.

>The Doctor cannot be both a teenage girl struggling with the burdens of command placed upon her far too young
? what? we don't see amiya being burdened by this either? or at least not for any more than a few secs, unless i've missed anything.
anyway, doc's appearance was literally made ambiguous, him turning out to have the mentality of a teenage girl after his amnesia could've easily worked.
>the age-old creature planning their race's last stand. The Doctor cannot be both the foul traitor who betrayed her patron's best hope ... The Doctor cannot be both the source of all of Terra's ills ...
his amnesia makes all of those workable, that's why amnesia is such a cheat narrative device
also, I'm not sure if you're misunderstanding something, but just because doc could replace amiya's role, doesn't mean amiya couldn't take up another role. the only thing i've been complaining about is that i don't see how amiya gets to be the protag and sideline the supposedly real protag, when she barely exists as something more than a shoehorned character made just to take on that role.

if that's all that you could take from my rant then you don't seem to know the ins and outs of storymaking.

the answer to your rhetorical question is pretty easy and made very clear at the start of the film series. Sam fulfilled an emotional need that made him essential to Frodo's character. It's established so early and so straightforwardly that you immediately get it. that already made him more of a character than s1 amiya could ever be

No, what I took away from your rant was that you're either trolling, or so hopelessly stupid that meaningful engagement is pointless. I offered up my first explanation in case you really were just so terminally Solo Levelling-poisoned that the idea of characters developing and changing over the course of multiple seasons was genuinely alien to you - beyond that, I've already filled my troll-filling quota for the day.

ah, so you're one of those vibe writing types.
don't accuse me of being solo-leveling-tier you inbred, when it's precisely you who doesn't have a clue, and would praise solo-leveling to the skies because you'd consider jin woo's shift from being a real character to a caricature in the span of 3 episodes peak content.

Yeah, I kinda enjoyed it too, although I barely understood many of the things happening because shit was happening far too fast. Feels like the last episode alone should've been expanded to 2 or 3 at least.
Maybe now that the first arc is over, before starting the second one they can do a couple of OVAs about side material that expand on the setting. But OVAs aren't really very popular anymore so...
