Also, I am a diehard romantic brooder to the point where I actually enjoy gayshit (as a straight man) because it is usually tragic enough to feed my inner angst.
But this is just not it. This anime is so fucking boring that I wouldn't be able to watch more than one episode a week no matter how hard I tired. I considered dropping it twice because it didn't surprise me with anything in particular until like two episodes ago. A bitch to recommend, but it might just be good.
I don't exactly have high standards since I am a terminally damaged fag who watches mostly classics, recent hits, one-off recommendations and gender bender shit to escape to imagine a world where I could not be the inferior gender (male)
So yeah, I have a high tolerance for gayshit and nothingburgers, but this anime is really really not "amazing" or "best of this season"

Kid saw him and, being a kid, didn't think much of it, just innocently interacting with the ghost of his dead father.
Ghost dad probably tried to reach out and interact with his son, give him a headpat or something, but just like Hikaru fucking people up when he touches people, he hurt or maybe even killed his son. A tragic accident.
Mom probably felt like she could have prevented it by banishing husband's ghost back to the realm of the dead, but ... it was her husband and he was helping her son beat pokemon.

I think that the manga would've been better off if it was adapted in one movie with ~2h runtime. Of course, it's not finished yet, but hypothetically, if it were finished, I could easily recut it into just 2 hours, maybe 2.5 hours if we wanted to keep extra homosexual filler. 2.5h is not too long for anime movies.
