So, we still don't really know why Blackbeard has a "special body" as Marco said. I don't think that's supposed to be a thing all Davy Clan members have. There's the theory that Rocks transferred his mind to Teach's body and that the body houses multiple souls, but that seems less likely now since Rocks doesn't seem like the kind of person to do that anymore. That said, it would be kinda cool if Rocks is just emotionally manipulating Harald, and that his real reason for saving Teach is to have a backup body.

What else could be the reason for Blackbeard's special body and the reason he can eat more than one Devil Fruit?

Unless there is some big reveal about the nature of the One Piece or what is required to find it during the flashback, the whole thing is pretty fucking pointless and just history for the sake of history. It is insane to me that we are getting Shakky's fucking backstory, a tertiary character at best who has not been important to the plot for more than a decade, before we get half the strawhats being actually relevant, or that we get new characters like Rocks before so many of the old characters get to do something cool. Its like Oda is no longer interested in his main characters and wants to endlessly wank about how super cool and important the old guard was.

It is especially jarring since this flashback is being told in the most rushed way possible, continually jumping from points of view and events without actually pausing at any time. Its like a series of reaction pannels with no substance to them. If Oda wants to tell us a proper story, we need more than just the power point presentation version. It is really really hard to care about any of these characters beyond the whole powerscaling hype/aura side. Which I guess explains why this fanbase is just aura/hype merchants, speculators, and agenda posters at this point. There is literally nothing else to this story.

You say that because we've spent so little time with him and his story is likely to come to a end very soon. I think the straw hats are great for being able to have so much screentime and yet not become completely uninteresting. Though some of them have a mild Flanderization problem.
